Unicows files go where?

I'm trying to use Kernel Ex on my Windows ME computer. I'm planning to test this out on Firefox 3.5.

I started the Kernal Ex install program, but it said I needed Microsoft Unicode Layer. So I downloaded that and it was only like 2 files: Unicows.dll & unicows.pdb. Where should I put those files?

Hmm, when I got those many years ago by a MS windowsupdate, it was installed automatically... Or did I download it manually and then installed it by clicking on the downloaded unicows.exe? *scratchhead*

No idea if that needs some registry installation, but if it helps anything, those 2 files are in my c:/windows/system folder on WIN98. That's the folder with the thousand files. Perhaps on ME the "big" one is system32 folder, not sure.

I think it ought to work in windows folder or perhaps windows\system folder.
Perhaps you need to register these files, but I don't remember how, as regsvr32 is for 32 bits Windows.

grinning smiley My first win3.11 was 16bit, but win9x is most definitely 32 grinning smiley And 64bit came much later, that means also much later than ME, unless I'm commpletely mistaken.

no JujuLand you don't need to register the unicows.dll & unicows.pdb files with regsvr32. unicows.dll is the only DLL file needed for KernelEx on a Win98/ME machine. this I know for sure since I used to use Win9x OSes several years ago.
unicows.pdb is completely optional and not necessary for KernelEx to function.
