Is it possible that the improved Java capability in FF 3.1 called trace monkey will become part of K-meleon in the near future?

No idea - but - IMHO nobody is going to rush the change of the official version. You should bear in mind that this change will exclude all that still use NT4 or Windows9x. & AFAIK the change to 1.9 creates much more work than some previous GRE changes.

Until then You can use Gecko's newest ECMAScript test engines with all K-meleon test versions - that can use the 1.9 engines. smiling smiley

You can use the GRE versions mentioned or SeaMonkeys with 1.9.1 or so engine.

I just ran the Sunspider test on my KM 1.5.0 and got a score of 26417.4ms +/- 0.5%. In an article on cnet TraceMonkey-enabled Firefox led with a score of 2,257 seconds. Everybody else, even Chrome, was slower than KM.
The Sunspider test is at http://www2.webkit.org/perf/sunspider-0.9/sunspider-driver.html
The cnet article is at http://news.cnet.com/8301-1001_3-10068743-92.html?tag=nl.e501

The improvement of Mozilla ECMA engine is fast if they caught up after only that time. BTW. K-Meleon 1.6 (test ones for GRE 1.9) were already faster than google-chrome (iron based on the same engine but no extra spyware is also faster) or firefoxes weeks ago :O
