Looks like we aren't the only ones with problems:

https://wayback.archive.org/web/*/http://catalogue.sasklibraries.ca/

As it times out, and I can't check by myself, viewing that Archive.org captured the same exact problem and serves the same exact way, looks like you have to contact them because they are serving the page as XML, when it is actually and HTML file.

I just loaded that site in KM 75 with no problems. Their main catalogue page looked fine, and so did the results page when I did a search. Maybe they've fixed the problem by now.

Oddly enough, however, I couldn't use the back button to return to this forum from their site. No matter how many times I hit the button, all it did was reload their site, so I had to use a link in the history list, instead.

I don't understand that at all. Have you tried KM 75 instead of 75.1 or 76 RC? I was going to try the site with SRWare Iron Portable, but then I remembered having removed it a while back. It's backed up in a Zip archive on my computer, but I intend to leave it that way.

As for that XML parsing error, which I'm not getting, the site's source code is full of references to XML files, and it relies heavily on Javascript.

No luck here either, but tried only KM1.6
All sorts of settings, but none helped.
Strange... the homepage works, and advanced search too, only this catalogue not. For a moment thought it might be related to that link being a "_blank" redirect, but can't interfere if the link is called directly, and also whitelisting the site for popups didn't help a thing.
Currently the strongest suspicion is perhaps some cross-domain prob, which is not possible in gecko??
Then again, it would not work for anyone at all, but does for foliator.
Could it be a country sniffing thing??

That was actually my first thought, since I'm in Canada and my IP address points to a Canadian provider. Of course, Saskatchewan's public library system is not of much use to me anyway. I've no access to their book collection, since I don't live in that province.

I am sure the I must not understand the problem. I do not have an ID for the library system, so when I try to log on to the system, I get the following message.
You have entered an invalid barcode/username or password. Please try again.

Don't forget that the password is case sensitive.

You have used 1 out of 10 login attempts. After 10 have been used, you will be unable to login for 5 minutes.

If I just enter a search item, then I get a listing of books. In the case where I entered "Putney, Mary Jo", I got the first page with 10 items of a list of 144 items.

I am using KM 76RC2 from the United States. Is there another test that I can try?

Our prob is that catalogue page:
http://catalogue.sasklibraries.ca/

When trying to open it, no matter how (either clicking the link or pasting it in URLbar), there happens nothing at all. KM keeps loading, and loading, and loading... and not even finding the page. Not 1 byte of content, not even yet the URL visible in the urlbar. After awhile, the usual Page Load Error appears.

Now with the US and CA being rather closely related, am not quite ruling out yet that country sniffing thing ;-)

Unless the original poster, lroixx, happens to also be in the US or Canada. If he's in fact trying to load the site from inside Saskatchewan, then we'd have to look for an entirely different explanation! :s

Right so Siria.
I get a time-out with both, the latest Firefox ESR 45.4.0 and Opera Presto.
I fired up Tor and with a Canadian exit node (167.114.89.195 - tor-node.golden-gryphon.com) I could reach the site without any problem using K-Meleon 75.1. smiling smiley

I forgot to mention that this address works perfectly in my versions of Firefox and Google Chrome, so that's whay I'm confused about its unavailability in 75,1... and I don't know what 'firing up Tor' means..

thank you for the attention,

I just used my KM 75.1 to access the system. They have added one more book by Mary Jo Putney since yesterday.

I think the 'tor' stuff allows a user mask where he is and tell the server the computer is in another place. I tried to use Tunnel Bear to make it seem like I was in Europe when I actually am in North Carolina, USA. I just have not figured out yet exactly how to use Tunnel Bear so I could not test that.

@lroixx

Many of us are from Europe.
Some of them tried to connect to your problematic site in order to test and see if they can help.
All of them got a time-out -> the computer tries to connect for 120 seconds to the desired server until it gives up.
Every server owner has the right to block undesired visitors but there is a codex among civilized people. Namely, you tell those visitors that access for them is denied.
The owner(or network admin) of that site (http://catalogue.sasklibraries.ca/) is a prick.
Instead of letting you know that you are not permitted to access the site, you get a "Socket Error 10060".
Such a "Socket Error 10060" suggests that either your ISP is blocking that site or rather you have a Winsock error on your network. Good luck finding that error and screwing up your system in vain.

As for Tor, it's an anonymity network.

Sorry lroixx, I can't help but at least you get an idea about why some people can't connect to that site. smiling smiley

We are talking about TOR or proxies because the site looks like it has some kind of country restriction access.

But, anyway, I didn't try initially to go to the main site, that it works, and make me ask you, why don't you just use the updated search engine located at http://search.reginalibrary.ca/, instead the http://catalogue.sasklibraries.ca/ referred in the previous one as the classic search?

The new works even in K-meleon 75.0

I can't test the classic by the told country restriction, but is it different? Is the newer worst or something?

I'm one who sticks with old things too, but maybe in this case doesn't harm to use the newest.

Thank you for trying to help, John..in fact I do use the reginalibrary.ca version that you mention, but it is a little different than the provincial site (sasklibraries) which has options to save in categories that the regina one doesn't.

gratefully,

lroixx
