This may sound silly, but my memory is failing me, so I guess the only thing I can do is suggest it: IIRC, the earlier versions of Mozilla didn't have this bug that is stopping us now. So why not use their old code as a temp patch until the bug is fixed properly by Mozilla developers?

The problem is that you just can't swap out a piece of code and insert the old code. Much of the code is interrelated and when you make a change in one location, it affects code in other locations. It would also require us rolling back all of the K-Meleon code to make it compatible. So, it's not a feasible option. Trust me, if we think we could do that, we would have done that a while ago.
