Help test final beta

Please test the following beta build:

http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/files/kmeleon08rc.exe

This is build 838. It is likely the last beta before the final 0.8 release so please report any bugs, etc. as soon as possible. If there are no blocking bugs reported, the new release should be out very soon.

Configuring installation, I've noticed two things I don't ever listen to in lists:

KmRemote

Is-it a product like vnc ??
How does it works ??

Splash

Can you give examples of using

A thing which is annoying:
If we install over a previous install (834 for example)
I loose:

bookmarks
s file
prefs.js (it seems to be normal)
macros (it seems to be normal)

Isn't it possible to backup theses files before writing them
It will be possible, later, to manually keep things in theses files

Thanks

I can't get this build to connect thru the firewall at work (using auto-proxy config).

On connecting to the outside world a userid/password popup should appear but never does. Eventually the connection attempt times out.

Previously I was using MonkeySage's build which worked fine.

Anyone else have this working ?

Andrew,

Am running Win98 on a PIII-600 Compaq Armada with 320 Megs RAM.

Just ran the beta executable. KM loaded, but the entire top menu (File, etc.) is missing. I told the install to run everything except for IE Favorites and QuickStart.

Try a thing:

Rename your k-meleon folder
Install again
And try.

By experience, as builds change a lot of things, the presence of some files no more needed, may be the reason of some strange bugs.

OK. I tried reinstalling to a different folder. No change. No menu info at all.

Andrew,

Managed to get itl(the top menu) loaded. Removed KM, reinstalled it, but minus rebars, icons on toolbar, and layers (I believe those are what I said no too in the new install). Now it works in Win98.

The following plugins are installed:

Macro Extensions
Toolbar Control
Netscape Bookmark
Histrory
FullScreen

The one I DL'ed last night was 843!

Is there some way to know what the current build is?

Or just after download, compare the file with the last build you already have.

Ok, but it don't gives the real build

Why don't put it in the install script in the beginning of install.

Yes, script must be edited before each build modification, but 'On ne fait pas d'omelette sans casser d'oeufs'

A+
