Hi, this is the thread for K-Meleon 74 es-ES locale translation.

You can download the local package from here:

Actually this is the initial version 1.
Local package has been revised, fixed and updated for K-Meleon 74 RC.

Post your comments and sugestions about es-ES translation in this thread.

- Problemas conocidos (known issues):

- En preferencias "Barras de Herramientas" -> Barra de pestañas -> Desplegable de la opción "Mostrar barra de pestañas" muestra la opción (not set).
(Requiere modificación del chrome de K-Meleon: ovrl-tabbar.xul line 101)

- Ayuda -> ¡Bienvenido a K-Meleon! => No carga resource:///locales/es-ES/readme.html
(Creo que debe meterse este fichero en la estructura de es-ES.jar)


- Modo de instalación:

Descomprime el archivo zip en el directorio de instalación de K-Meleon 74.

1) chrome.manifest file changed in this local package:

- Before:
binary-component k-meleon.exe
locales/es-ES/es-ES.manifest

- Now:
manifest chrome/chrome.manifest
manifest components/components.manifest

Is this correct, or is a file to other path? how to modify this file for locale?

2) In local xx-YY.manifest file, I think this two lines can be deleted or commented because this folders not exist on locale xx-YY.jar file:

locale weave en jar:en.jar!/

locale browser en jar:en.jar!/browser/

3) SetDefault.ini file is not included in this locale package, is it no more nedded or included in the future?

4) In bookmarks.dll kplugin there is an invisible edit box not used. I think this can be deleted, see image attached.

5) In search.xml file Google search string changed to added "client=kmeleon" but this must be changed also in K-Meleon's chrome in file:
K-Meleon74\browser\omni.ja\chrome\en-US\locale\browser-region\region.properties

Line 15:
kmeleon.plugins.macros.search.engine1.url=http://www.google.com/search?q=

Because search string is showed instead Google name in Preferences -> Finding Websites -> Web Search

6) Also is needed add an entity for translation in this file and add it to

2.) Is AFAIK used by naruman who works on chrome items? If so it should be populated with propertes and dtd in en-US amd other locales also. That helps testing and transfering finshed work. Or?

I think (not set) should not appear, probably a missing pref.

@Dorian:

In new localization package, in en.jar file is added console2/contents.rdf.
Any more rdf file is included, is needed include this rdf file in new chromes?
I think this are only for old chrome versions.

desga2, hope You two do not mind that I hijack You message to Dorian to voice what is on my mind.

The rdf is still in the original, current Console2 download package xpi. Why?

It is or was for applications that used the original Mozilla xull.dll code. AFAIK K-Meleon does not need the rdf anymore since Dorian (many years ago) switched to the xull.dll from firefox/XulRunner.

The differences in the strings for configuration was found by all translators where it mattered. Chinese, German , Russian.


Code for the UserAgent change has been dropped. K-Meleon now uses general.useragent.compatMode.firefox with true as default, like other Mozilla based browsers, so the problems with stupid browser switches should not arise.

But IMHO You/we should leave the obsolete strings inside the kml for experienced users that know how and want to implement the previous macros and pref codes for their personal UserAgent switching. Why discard existing things? They cost no time.

Easiest pragmatic solution You put all the missing strings and the changes You want into one extra.kml and post them. The translators can make the translation and it can be dropped into the locales. How about that?

Even if not all are used. It is not bad to have a cache of strings & alternatives for code development.

Dorian, desga2's passage about edit reminds me of something.

Some pages with editor function like yahoo.mail need access to the copy & paste functions of the main menue. Else K-Meleon cannot force copy or paste. The context menue function does not open for paste etc. Not for me anyway.

The needed menue items in &Edit ars not in the new compact menue. Put &Edit there.

p.s. JamesD wrote a macro for the firefox extension install option. Maybe use? http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?9,128836,129088#msg-129088
Maybe also use a firefox extension that suppresses compatibility check by default.

Both maybe with warning that Firefox extension's compatibility is not anything K-Meleon project caters for?
