Deep localization problems in next KM's

Dear localizers!
I've posted fix for ru-locale in corresponding thread.

The problem described affects not only ru-locale. And while that glitches are not crucial for now, they may become so soon.

Read the message with new ru-locales attached and check your own.

Checklist:

1. Make sure that you extract locale files for mozilla engine from RIGHT Firefox build.
For KM74 final and all 24ESR-based assemblies use latest Firefox 24 ESR.

For KM74-31 you'll need updated locale - the 'donor' is latest-ESR.

2. Download your localized Firefox build, unpack it or install it.

3. Make sure that you've taken all locale files from
FF-rootfolder\omni.ja\chrome\xx\locale\xx
where xx is your locale code

4. Also get into FF-rootfolder\browser\omni.ja\chrome\xx\locale and extract 'browser' and 'browser-region' folders to previously extracted locale.

5. Update your current locale. Make sure you have created 2 different (!) locale packages for 24-based and 31-based builds.

Update your browser and enjoy new possibilities of 'about:'pages working correctly in your lang!

Don't forget to share new locales with Dorian grinning smiley

I had already updated all the locales with ESR31, did I forgot something?
You have also to update kmeleon.dll by adding the following string 62267,62268,62269,62270

There was empty 'browser' folder in jar and new strings in KM dtd's were added in English not translated.

And Dorian, I've never dealed with dll-files. So how can I update kmeleon.dll?

What I have to do?

You have the old kko's guide.
Else translators which already done it can probably help you.

Strings in English are replaced by their native equivalent.

"emailPromptTitle = E-Mail-Adresse" in property files - like in kml.

<!ENTITY allow.label "Zulassen"> in dtds / overwrite English with Russian string like I di with German.

Dll are hacked with resource hacker.

Replace the en language strings with Russian strings using resource hacker.

Just install the program inspect an older Russian example and You will know.

Compare English or Russian in locales/ru/privacy.dll with the German screen shot.

The job same with the new kmelon.dll.

If only a few strings are added You can probaly insert the new string with ists number.

Do the first test saving just after You translated the first string.
Just to learn what must be done. I lost a full dll of German strings when I first tried. grinning smiley

If some folder is empty it is work in progress - nothing to be done yet.

If a string is not there in English yet - try to guess it from the !entity tongue sticking out smiley

Maybe You are right if not You must translate it when it is finally there. :s

Dorian,
thank you for the link. Now I became dll-master too! grinning smiley

I've updated ru-locale again - I think now it's the most correct locale for KM! tongue sticking out smiley

Some notes:

1) It wasn't easy to find new strings to add! You add them only into French dll
So, no one locale except FR and RU contains new strings for now, even ES and DE.
We need to add them in English for all other locales in order that localizers could translate them! I can help.

2) There are untranslated strings in default Toolbars.cfg - for example 'Add Bookmark. Right-click for more options.' (I think the same is about Favorites and Hotlist but they aren't used by default in your "new" skins)
I've added them into kmeleon.kml to fix issue.

All localizers have to do the same.

3) The same issue with some new strings like 'Check for update' and 'Firefox compatibility mode' - the solution is also used to be: add strings to kml-file.

My little help for DE and ES localizers:

updated kmeleon.dll files (attached)
They contain missed strings but in English.

Desga and guenter (or whoever maintains DE-locale) have to translate these strings with Resource Hacker.

And I was wrong - zh-CN locale is updated already.

Oh, guenter,
I've noted your help only now, so thank you too!

I guess I have done this job right and take my little help too! smiling smiley

Also I've found good update to old Resource Hacker. That peace of software is abandoned in 2011, but there is a man who makes his own patch to slightly refresh RH:

Resource Hacker FX (from the author of Unchecky utility, which helps to avoid unwanted hidden installations of crapware)
