For DE german locale, only a little fix is needed:
Go to KM-Goanna/locales/DE/de.jar
Open de.jar and go to folder kmprefs,
Locate pref-privacy.dtd and add next line:
<!ENTITY cookies.accept.visited "Nur von besuchten seiten">
Save changes to pref-privacy.dtd and also keep the changes for de.jar
(I did this with WinRAR and it ask me to auto-save changes to file).
That's all to solve the error at privacy & security.
The way to fix the FR and ES is the same with their *.jar.
However, for IT italian locale two extra lines are needed:
Locale IT, file it.jar, kmprefs, pref.dtd:
<!ENTITY buildname.label "disabled=false;">
<!ENTITY builddate.label "disabled=true;">
Then adding the common line to it.jar, kmprefs, pref-privacy.dtd:

I've understood it's a prob if a string from a xul is NOT contained in a translation dtd.
But what if the dtd contains MORE strings, would that be a prob?
(thinking of the 2 italian versions for 75.1 and 76)

Please mark machine-translations as such, because they are often full of mistakes, or just sounding outlandish ;-) Not so much for EN/RU, but for other languages of 'minor' importance.
Edited advice for machine-translations as such. All locales were translated from english to their respective locales FR/IT/DE and then again translated to spanish to see concordance, and all of them were nice translated imho. Anyway ES locale translation is correct as I understand it perfectly. However, if people from their respective locales can read them at my post, they can fix what's bad translated as mostly 50% of the work have been done I guess.
There is more people speaking spanish than english actually.

Yes, crooky forward and then crooky backwards again gives the same result, but nevertheless is often wrong in the other language
If you're native spanish speaker, the ES version is probably not machine translated, but verified correct?

That's nothing legal or technical, have merely meant, that it's not machine translated but checked (and if necessary corrected) by a person with great knowledge in that language.
As provisional fix it can help for a while, for final fix probably not. ._.
Hello. I see now this, for me, important thread. The problem for translation k-meleon are accents. If you use normal accents on dtt file, KM return xul error. For italian, for example, this not working:

Probably the utf8 encoding of the accents is also needed for other languages.
I use notepad++, write in utf8 encoding the accented letters then change encoding in ansi and copy.

Hi, Niceeight, I have no problems with accents in italian neither other locales.
I tested with fake string "Lùòghà döllá bà ncä dà tï" to set multiple accents and all were shown with no problem. I use normal Notepad of Windows 10 to edit it. I only use Notepad++ to locate line numbers. :s By the way, very good work with IT italian locale by yourself, congratulations!

Hi J.G. very strange. I had to waste a lot of time to understand the problem of accents.
Thanks but as you can see it never ends! From what I understand, do you want fix the spanish translate? Admirable! And who will translate it in Norwegian?
I see this and i tested with and without this two string and the result not change. It works in both cases or maybe I not see the differences...
I tested again with all combinations of accents and symbols and all were shown. No idea about how they are shown so easily for me. I wanted to include a capture of the screen to prove it but I don't know how. About spanish language I can tranlate whatever phrase that needs a translation for galician, catalan and castilian (aka spanish), but I have not your technical knowledge (your work with IT locale is like to build rockets for me). About the extra two lines I noticed the errors while testing all the languages, and both them solved the problem for me. Anyway at least is better to have identified them if needed for the future. Norwegian? LOL

No idea, perhaps a handling prob...? Notepad++ has 2 different menu blocks for encoding, the one above changes only the "view" but not the file itself, the lower menu block changes the file.
I looked into 2 of your dtd files and N++ says they ARE utf8! (without BOM, perhaps needs WITH BOM?)

Since Hotlist and Favorites plugins were not on when You checked. You missed two items in es-ES. First switch plugins on and restart. Then do mouse over the icon/button to verify whether You are affected. Maybe You found already.
I know that for a while but I use older skins. Nobody complained yet.
The same in Jujuland's fr-FR.
The same in robocop's ru-RU.
Chinese translates them all correctly.
I do not have it-IT and pl-Pl installed.
But maybe Polish has it because robocop was kind enough to update that one also.
Note that older skins including Klassic skin use some other kml commands for bookmarks, favorites, hotlist manipulation.

Always switch to UTF-8 for all chrome files and kml and xml. Never use ANSI.

Save finished files as UTF-8.
Only resource hacked dll and exe can use ANSI or other.
dtd, js and other chrome files need to be saved as UTF-8. kml and K-Meleon's search.xml are also saved as UTF-8.
Even if You edit files of languages that do not need accent and other UTF-8 items AFAIK You save as UTF-8.

Maybe Niceeight pulled Your leg because You know and fixed so many language locales.
Translations are normally done by a native speaker that wants HIS language supported. Or by someone that speaks a similar language and does a few fixes because he is just at it and fixed his own locale - like rodocop from Russia did for Polish recently.
And You did the same for a number of languages that are not related to Yours.
But a complete Bokmål translation would be a hard nut. So he chose that to make fun.
Usually a native speaker does the locale so that it is good Grammar and with no typos...

IIRC Goanna build doesn't have buildname.label/builddate.label
I was unable to fix the IT italian locale without those additions; after added them the IT locale was fixed for 'Privacy & Security' option at 'Preferences'. I'm sure about that because after fixing these two lines, IT locale worked well (other errors with locales were also observed later by @Rodocop, fixed too (e.g. about;support). Solution for some locales about;preferences is still pending. :s

am not really much better at translating, because I hardly know any german 'computer lingo', for lack of using other similar programs, and for my daily tools prefer english (short and catchy menus). The best would be to simply look how other browsers have that already translated. Especially those 'about' pages, aren't those identic with Firefox?? You or Yogi can compare that easier, considering my ancient versions here.
Apart from that, all I can do is use some general language feeling, like prefering "Neustart versuchen" to "Versuche neu zu starten". English menus are very 'personal', while german ones have always been as un-personal as possible, they also sound awkward when adressing users with "Du" or "Sie".
I stopped wondering about chrome behaviour long ago.
Good if all is fixed and submitted to You.
Locales are done by a native speaker if possible. I maintain German.
Feel free to tell me by mail if anything is required or needed.
p.s. My current example of odd chrome behaviour. Only Chinese and English can find an <!ENTITY blocklist.blocked.label "Blockiert"> in mozapps/extensions for the BlueHell Addons. All translations have it. But the ones I tested cannot find it.

Have just taken a look into the it-folder in brandnew Goanna, and noticed strange files in it: some script (probably for auto-updating as mentioned by guenter?), install + nsh + ini files, and two kmeleon.dlls (second names "_original.dll", which are not contained in the other locales.
Have no idea, just wondering if perhaps this has to do with this prob.
PS FRENCH:
there's a dictionary since ages in the Locale folder, shouldn't it better be in the dictionaries folder too? Or does it work from either?

Yes, you are completely right and @Roytam1 too. I reverted these two changes at KM-Goanna with IT italian locale and nothing happened, so I apologize for this mistake because these two lines <!ENTITY buildname.label "disabled=false;"> and <!ENTITY builddate.label "disabled=true;"> are only needed with KMmeleon 76RC2pro portable by @Rodocop. You can try yourself to check this situation. However, I have five KMeleon folders, one of KM-Goanna fresh, other with KM-Goanna tweaked for experiments and locales, one of KM-76RC2pro portable fresh and other with KM-76RC2pro portable tweaked for experiments and locales also, and if all don't be enough, one folder with KM-75.1 to resolve the slow problem (the antivirus problem), so as a newbie to this browser I fell in a regrettable confusion anyway. Sorry again.

Hi, Niceeight, I have no problems with accents in italian neither other locales.
I tested with fake string "Lùòghà döllá bà ncä dà tï" to set multiple accents and all were shown with no problem. I use normal Notepad of Windows 10 to edit it. I only use Notepad++ to locate line numbers. :s By the way, very good work with IT italian locale by yourself, congratulations!

I tested again with all combinations of accents and symbols and all were shown. No idea about how they are shown so easily for me. I wanted to include a capture of the screen to prove it but I don't know how. About spanish language I can tranlate whatever phrase that needs a translation for galician, catalan and castilian (aka spanish), but I have not your technical knowledge (your work with IT locale is like to build rockets for me). About the extra two lines I noticed the errors while testing all the languages, and both them solved the problem for me. Anyway at least is better to have identified them if needed for the future. Norwegian? LOL

No idea, perhaps a handling prob...? Notepad++ has 2 different menu blocks for encoding, the one above changes only the "view" but not the file itself, the lower menu block changes the file.
I looked into 2 of your dtd files and N++ says they ARE utf8! (without BOM, perhaps needs WITH BOM?)

Since Hotlist and Favorites plugins were not on when You checked. You missed two items in es-ES. First switch plugins on and restart. Then do mouse over the icon/button to verify whether You are affected. Maybe You found already.
I know that for a while but I use older skins. Nobody complained yet.
The same in Jujuland's fr-FR.
The same in robocop's ru-RU.
Chinese translates them all correctly.
I do not have it-IT and pl-Pl installed.
But maybe Polish has it because robocop was kind enough to update that one also.
Note that older skins including Klassic skin use some other kml commands for bookmarks, favorites, hotlist manipulation.

Always switch to UTF-8 for all chrome files and kml and xml. Never use ANSI.

Save finished files as UTF-8.

dtd, js and other chrome files need to be saved as UTF-8. kml and K-Meleon's search.xml are also saved as UTF-8.
Even if You edit files of languages that do not need accent and other UTF-8 items AFAIK You save as UTF-8.

Maybe Niceeight pulled Your leg because You know and fixed so many language locales.
Translations are normally done by a native speaker that wants HIS language supported. Or by someone that speaks a similar language and does a few fixes because he is just at it and fixed his own locale - like rodocop from Russia did for Polish recently.
And You did the same for a number of languages that are not related to Yours.
But a complete Bokmål translation would be a hard nut. So he chose that to make fun.
Usually a native speaker does the locale so that it is good Grammar and with no typos...

am not really much better at translating, because I hardly know any german 'computer lingo', for lack of using other similar programs, and for my daily tools prefer english (short and catchy menus). The best would be to simply look how other browsers have that already translated. Especially those 'about' pages, aren't those identic with Firefox?? You or Yogi can compare that easier, considering my ancient versions here.
Apart from that, all I can do is use some general language feeling, like prefering "Neustart versuchen" to "Versuche neu zu starten". English menus are very 'personal', while german ones have always been as un-personal as possible, they also sound awkward when adressing users with "Du" or "Sie".

I stopped wondering about chrome behaviour long ago.
Good if all is fixed and submitted to You.
Locales are done by a native speaker if possible. I maintain German.

p.s. My current example of odd chrome behaviour. Only Chinese and English can find an <!ENTITY blocklist.blocked.label "Blockiert"> in mozapps/extensions for the BlueHell Addons. All translations have it. But the ones I tested cannot find it.

Yes, you are completely right and @Roytam1 too. I reverted these two changes at KM-Goanna with IT italian locale and nothing happened, so I apologize for this mistake because these two lines <!ENTITY buildname.label "disabled=false;"> and <!ENTITY builddate.label "disabled=true;"> are only needed with KMmeleon 76RC2pro portable by @Rodocop. You can try yourself to check this situation. However, I have five KMeleon folders, one of KM-Goanna fresh, other with KM-Goanna tweaked for experiments and locales, one of KM-76RC2pro portable fresh and other with KM-76RC2pro portable tweaked for experiments and locales also, and if all don't be enough, one folder with KM-75.1 to resolve the slow problem (the antivirus problem), so as a newbie to this browser I fell in a regrettable confusion anyway. Sorry again.
