KM-17alpha-S2010 experimental
Posted by: Fred
Date: October 29, 2010 01:40AM

I have updated KM-17 alpha to Gecko 1.9.1.15/date 20101027
from the brand-new Seamonkey 2.0.10 (from Seamonkey Tinderbox).
This is an experimental version. The profile will be created
in the K-Meleon main folder.
Look for it at :

drop.io/eichhein

Note: Flash in Windows works OK, but not in Linux with wine
up to now.
But be careful with Flash, a new zero-day vulnerability
in Flash has been found yesterday.
Another zero-day attack has been found for Firefox and
Seamonkey, which caused a new release within only a couple
of days and brought Seamonkey to version 2.0.10 .

Regards to all

Fred

smiling smiley K-Meleon 1.5.4 isn't affected by this bug, not need updated tongue sticking out smiley

K-Meleon only still loading in a bucle but you can stop/cancel loading, not crash.

K-Meleon 1.5.4 is better (more stable) than last Seamonkey and Firefox versions, it have less bugs.

Absolut.

That is the New Deal for Win9x users (and the best deal) - a browser completely stable, known GRE bugs fixed AND additionally

- who will search and code for less than a million affected internet apps.

It simply does not pay. So... grinning smiley & tongue sticking out smiley

@ panzer

Thank you very much for the information.
So I will have to look for a replacement for drop.io .
Existing files can still be downloaded until
December 15th, as they write. Uploading has
already been stopped.

Fred, your KM-17 alpha is working like a charm. Will tell here how things play out. Thanks heaps!!

@Desga Re: 1.54: security through obscurity? All known vulnerabilities for the GRE used in 154 ARE patched? If so, I'm ready to relax and enjoy.

Why are developers developing on the new GRE's (including your GREAT cp4?) For fun, yes, for "future proofing", of course. But not only! Some may have the feeling of being on shaky ground.

I'm starting to feel deterred out of using Thunderbird 2.0.0.24 because its 1.8 GRE is no longer being updated and holes are starting to be found in it. I dislike having to migrate, but may finally have no choice left in the end.

Desga, we'd ALL love to see an updated cp4 ;-) Such releases (such as Fred's current one) are VERY reassuring. The green dragon is alive and well and with a great future ahead of it!

Thanks again for your efforts, Fred, Desga, Dorian, Guenter and the whole bunch of you! :-)

Esta version aunque es Beta, va un mucho mas lenta que el K-Meleon Normal !
Pero en esta verison te deja entrar en Tuenti & Facebook.

@ panzer

Thanks again for the info. The advantage of drop.io
used to be, that it had complete anonymity.

In the meantime, I have got the opportunity, to
use the K-meleon extension site Kmext at sourceforge.net,
which I am very grateful for.
I have uploaded KM-17alpha-S2010 there :

Fred, Seamonkey 2.0.11 was released a few days ago.
can you prepare a KM-17a-S2011 release?
also, be sure to update/modify the I10n.js file to have the Firefox 3.5/Seamonkey 2.0 user agent strings and not the Firefox 2.0/Seamonkey 1.1 UA strings before releasing it.
