I have uploaded an updated unofficial variation version :
K-Meleon1.5.3-Linux-18123 .
This is an adapted variation of K-Meleon 1.5.3 ,
usable in Linux together with Wine , or also in Windows,
updated to Mozilla 1.8.1.23 using Gecko/20090820 .
NoScript and Adblock included.

In Linux :
Add the files msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll to the K-Meleon folder.
If you need these dll's, look for them in the internet .
Start the file "k-meleonW9x-forLinux.exe" as a user with the "wine" command.

In Windows :
There should be no problems, if the files msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll
are in you system..

Note :
* In Linux the URL bar is only usable with more recent wine versions.
If you are using an older wine version, use the URL button to open an URL prompt.
* Real Tabs are now implemented. Tabs are now usable in Linux too, while
Layers were not working well in Linux before.
* NoScript extension included. Thanks to Giorgio Maone (http://maone.net), jujuland and desga2.
* AdblockPlus extension included. Thanks to Wladimir Palant(http://adblockplus.org), and jujuland.
* To use NoScript, Javascript has always to be enabled.
* Many additional Search Engines in the menu bar, opening in a new window.
* Newsfox RSS collection for English, German and French newspapers and Linux newssites added.
* You can delete Newsfox Groups of unwanted languages to avoid long loading times.
* In Linux its preferable to leave the user agent at Custom(Opera) - loads faster and is more stable on complex webpages.
* Keyboard shortcuts:
Page back : (right)ctrl + left arrow
Page forward : (right)ctrl + right arrow
Close Window : (right)ctrl + down arrow
Go to home : (right)ctrl + up arrow

Ratz. Still no K-M in Jaunty. I've tried over and over. Had it running a couple of times but all it ever did was freeze trying to load something. sad smiley

Could be worse. I have Epiphany, a slim Gecko-based browser that has somewhat the feel of K-M.

I don't know how you install K-Meleon under Linux, but you must use K-Meleon_w9x.exe, else, it crashes when starting. If you use the standard 1.5.3 setup, it ought to install the good exe.

I have always some crashes, which is annoying, but I'm trying to solve it with wine makers.

If you do not need any extensions (I think Epiphany does
not support them either), you can try my NX variation
K-Meleon-NX-18123, which should be less problematic
and has also the latest Gecko engine..
Download here :

http://one.xthost.info/eichhein/K-Meleon-NX-18123.zip

Unzip it into a folder, where you have all rights to
write and execute, for example your HOME folder or /opt.
Add the files msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll to the
K-Meleon main folder, and rename profile.ini to
profile.ini-renamed. This will create your profile
inside the configuration folder ".wine" inside your
HOME folder (probably /home/ubuntu/ ).
I hope that you succeed. In Ubuntu this variation
should work without any bigger problem.

Fred
