I have uploaded an updated unofficial no-Xul version :
K-Meleon-NX-19115.
This is a NoXul variation,
usable in Linux together with wine , or also in Windows,
updated to Mozilla Gecko 1.9.1.16pre date 20101029,
from Seamonkey 2.0.10. (from Seamonkey-Tinderbox.)
Based on KM 1.5, not on KM 1.6 .
The fast NX No-chrome concept is used here. Thanks to Hao Jiang and Dorian.
The profiles folder will be created inside the K-Meleon main folder, and should
leave profiles from other versions untouched.
If, when in Linux, you want this folder inside the wine configuration directory because of
property rights problems, rename the file profile.ini inside the K-Meleon
main folder to for example profile.ini-renamed before the first start.
Note :
This version works only if you have the files mfc71u.dll, msvcp71.dll
and msvcr71.dll in your system or in your K-Meleon folder.
If you need these files, look for them in the internet.
If necessary in Linux, copy the files manually to the K-Meleon main folder.
A javascript button has been included. After changing permissions for javascript, reload the page.
As this variation has no xul, there is also no working Preferences panel.
Personal changes of the default configuration can only be made editing the configuration files manually.
Extensions are not installable in this No-xul variation.
The user agent has been set to Opera 10, to get the best browser recognition on javascript sites,
when working with Linux and the wine emulator.
Other user agents can be selected in the Tools menu.
Keyboard shortcuts:
Page back : (right)ctrl + left arrow
Page forward : (right)ctrl + right arrow
Go to home : (right)ctrl + up arrow
CloseWindow : (right)ctrl + down arrow

Hi, Fred, I've been using this browser since you uploaded it, because I like NX versions, and I mention, for if it can help you make better the browser, I found two errors:
- Secure pages (https) can not loaded;
- Can not download anything, the browser gives failed download (it says something about a bug in the TEMP folder).

There are some https sites that actually do not work,
but most do, for example even the security checker "Shields up" at
https://www.grc.com
or the CIA site
https://www.cia.gov

If these don't, something could be corrupted in your used profile.
If you have the folder Profile inside your K-Meleon folder,
rename it for checking to Profile2 and restart the browser
to create a new profile for testing.

Downloading may fail, if you have no user rights in
the default download folder.
Change the target download folder in the download dialog
to one that is allowed for user downloads.

Mozilla.org has AFAIK stopped support for chrome-lite GRE versions - IMHO no repair.

p.s. Hope You understand German. AFAIK können sie nicht, zum normalen 1.6 wurde die https FunKtions-Unterstützung via einer Chrome-Ausbesserung hinzugefügt. NX Versionen haben das Erforderliche gegenwärtig nicht

Die in 1.8 existierenden c++ Wege gibt es in GRE 1.9 leider nicht mehr.

Yes, there are https sites who announce an ssl error, like for example

https://berlinpro.org/

but fortunately many https sites still work correctly.
The error can actually not be fixed anymore in
NX-versions, because they have no chrome.

This document cannot be displayed unless you install the Personal Security Manager (PSM). Download and install PSM and try again, or contact your system administrator.
The site responded to the network request in an unexpected way and the browser cannot continue.

What I can do?

2 .- When I try to download a link, gives me no option to choose the folder to save, it just says that there is an error:
C:\Docume~1\...\Config~1\Temp not could be saved, because an unknown error occurred.


How I can change the download folder?

1) I see this error in some test build previus to Beta release, I'm not know what is exactly but this is due to some file not found in \component subfolder or some file that not be added/included.
Also try to delete *.dat files in \components subfolder.


2) Try to change this prefs:
kmeleon.download.useDownloadDir => to true value
kmeleon.download.dir => path to download directory

It seems that in Windows all https sites are blocked, while
in Linux with wine most of them work. Difficult to change that,
because there is no Xul chrome in this No Xul variation.

The problem with downloads on the other hand can easily be
solved, using in the right click menu the menu point
"Save link target as ..." for downloading, and saving the file
to a selected folder.

Thanks, Fred, for your responses. Indeed, the https pages you put to test in KM-NX-19115 do not work in Windows, which is what I use. Downloads can be as you say, with right click menu; I mentioned it because the version of KM-NX-19112 had no problem with the downloads.
