I have uploaded to Rapidshare a new version :

K-Meleon0.9.13-update3-1.8.0.7

This is the original 0.9.13 version, updated to
Mozilla 1.8.0.7 using Gecko/20060909
with some additional features.
Note : To keep this version safe, and nevertheless
keep the look and feel and the features
of 0.9.13 (with NoScript and Adblock included),
I have used the latest Gecko 1.8, together with some
files of Dorian's development for 1.0 , to make them work.
That is why I offer this Update 3 for K-Meleon 0.9.13.
Active X Support can be enabled, but only for Windows Media Player.
Note: Not all media files will work, if they cannot find a requested
player model. Try then K-Meleon 1.0.1-ax, which has no conflicts
with NoScript and AdBlock to open such streams.

Note :
This version works only if you have the files msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll
in your system or in your K-Meleon folder. If you need them, they are still
available under the name dll-installer on the KM 8.2 website at:

@Fred - Definitely usedfull to have the 0.9 maintained which adds variety.
(though we have a new 1.xes for most windows systems).
i will definitely send it to Zeronero - who is on `nix ;-)

btw. he says his linux live cd used an older k-m version by default when he bought it?

The version should work in Linux with wine, although
some small bugs are still there. But the additional
.dll's are absolutely necessary there, because they are
not included in the system. The browser is despite
its look based on KM 1.0.2.

I have a small problem with this latest update. When i go to this page http://forum.andr.net/viewtopic.php?t=205244 and try to select a highlited link to download Logitech software the right button fails to work. It does work in k-meleon 0.9.13-1.8.0.5. Any idear what is wrong.?

Does link work with any geko browser?
The page has much wrong syntax (8 faults or so´) and is otimized for IE.
i can tell this from reading it with 1.01 that has new Java-Console2.

I have only tried it with the previous K-Meleon 0.9.13.-1.8.0.5 and it does work well in that browser but not in the latest update K-Meleon browser, however other sites work OK so it must be due to some fault on this site.

A small note it would not list the favorites dll under plugins until i replaced it with a favorites dll i had in another k-m version

when I type for example:

barcelona

into the url bar and click on the search button or use ctrl+g
it takes me to http://www.barcelona.com/ instead of the google results page for barcelona
http://www.google.com/search?q=barcelona

as happens on previous older modified versions of yours.

In order to make this version work, there are necessary
three .dlls, that have to be in your system, or in the main
folder of K-Meleon, two of them that would keep the
browser from starting, if they were missing, and a third one,
that is needed by the favourites plugin, a dll which you probably
do not have.
These three .dll's were also needed, when the version
8.2+ (so-called Wechselbalg) was published, and they
are still available for download under the name "dll-installer"
(size 700k at the website for KM 8.2+ at

This installer would install the three needed .dlls on
your computer.
Concerning your second question I think that
enabling Keyword Autosearch in the menu "Tools"
would bring back the usual behaviour, when searching
from the URL bar. Pushing the "Enter" button should
then be sufficient to start the search.

I don't know about the 3rd one you mention because i cannot access the lontronics.nl link you provide - it doesn't allow proxies and my isp ntl routes me through a proxy.

The third one would be mfc 71 , but as it works with
the other favourites kplugin, you will probably not
need it in your case.

Fred...I tried this and it was very nice

is there a reason however some sites dont work with flash unless I turn off adblock totally? I havent set anything in the browser settings or even with no script to block flash at all. I've even imported my own filters from my adblock I use in firefox...which work fine and block the ads on the sites I want blocked

if you go to ESPN.com for instance...even if I allow scripts with no script for that site...Flash wont load unless I toggle off Adblock

This seems to be because of the Flashblock plugin.
There is a line on top of userContent.css in your profile's
chrome folder
@import url(chrome://flashblock/content/flashblock.css);
that blocks some content.
You can disable this by putting a # at the beginning
of the line.

P.S.
You can open userContent.css from the
menu Tools/AdvancedPreferences/UserContent.
After changing it, close the browser first and
save it then to its origin, but as AllFiles, not as Text.

You have the three extensions NoScript, Adblock and
selectable Active X Support included. Besides that it is
just a matter of taste, which look and feel you prefer.
I have installed both browsers and use them just at will.
For me it is important, to have an alternative, that is
still safe, because it uses the latest Gecko engine. This
has only been made possible by Dorian's k-meleon.exe.
I naturally have also other variations in use that have
personal add-ons, which means search and other macros,
that facilitate my web-browsing.
It is the same as with cars and other things. The more
choices you have, that you can change, the better.

I've revisited this upgraded version of 0.9 and wonder if you have any plans of upgrading it yet again to the latest gecko? Or if not, instructions on how I could homebrew it myself using either FF or SM?

The version K-Meleon0.9.13-ud3 has already the same Gecko base 1.8.0.7
as the still official version K-Meleon 1.0.2 .
When the new official version K-Meleon 1.1 will have been released,
I could reconsider an update 4 of the old 0.9.13, but probably not earlier.
I have used the Gecko base 1.8.1 up to now only for the special simple
version for Linux (now in version 2), which can naturally also be used
in Windows, but does not include AdBlock and Active X Support, as
the version 0.9.13-update3 . But the earlier Gecko is probably still safe
enough, as I suppose, so there is no hurry for an immediate update.

I am looking forward to v4 of this release. At this point, I use yours and the alpha and Adblock and NoScript are definite pluses to my mind. It is good to know that the 0.9 line can be extended to current, more secure versions of Gecko and 1.8.0xxx has proven to be a good one.

can You create a 1.1 macro for noscript - that permitts to toggle NoScript for the site that is visited at the moment? Plus maybe one for the session?
(maybe 2 or 3 toggle buttons?) - I have the callup for configuration. 1.)

I have edited (hidden) the noscript appearance changing panel with all the XUL things that cannot ever work for k-meleon. Have You observed any other things in the other panels that do not work?

I have no idea how to continue especially with the macros.

unfortunately I am not yet very familiar with the new
macro structure, I even am still trying to understand
better, how the macros are called up from the menu.
I could only offer you a version with the old structure,
but based on gecko 1.8.1 with NoScript, Adblock and
Active X Support included, that means an extended verskion
of my variation for Linux. I have it already working
o.k. but I am a bit reluctant to make it public before
the release of the official K-Meleon 1.1 .
It works also for Linux, with layers disabled, although
probably there without the Active X Support working.
