new version: K-Meleon0.9.13-ud5-1.8.1

I have uploaded to Rapidshare an updated version
K-Meleon0.9.13-ud5-1.8.1 .
A missing file necessary for https-sites has been added in update 5.
This is the original 0.9.13 version, updated to
Mozilla 1.8.1.pre2 using Gecko/20070221,
from the latest nightly of Seamonkey 1.1.1 .
with some additional features.
To keep this version safe, and nevertheless
keep the look and feel and the features
of 0.9.13 (with NoScript and Adblock included),
I have used the latest Gecko 1.8.1, together with some
files of Dorian's development for 1.0 , to make it work,
in this Update 5 for K-Meleon 0.9.13.
Download at :

http://rapidshare.com/files/18064853/K-Meleon0.9.13-ud5-1.8.1.zip.html

Note: This version works only if you have the files mfc71.dll, msvcp71.dll and
msvcr71.dll in your system or in your K-Meleon folder. If you need them, they
are still available under the name dll-installer on the KM 8.2 website at :

http://www.lontronics.nl/index.php?m=0006 .

This will install the files on your system .
Unzip the downloaded file into a fresh folder, and add
the needed dll's from the mentioned site, if necessary.
Your profile will be created in the K-Meleon folder by default,
without touching your older profile in the "documents" folder.
If you should get an error alert, when you restart the browser, repeat clicking once more and the alert should stop then.
New : Buttons for Adblock and NoScript added to the Privacy bar.
Features:
Adblock extension added.Thanks to CaptnBlack.
Adblock button toggles Adblock function.
Preference button opens AdblockPreferences.
Filterlist preconfigured.
Block additional images by the context menu (insert then
into the filter line).
To delete or edit a filter, middle click on the concerned
filter line, and edit the filter.
Noscript extension included. Thanks to Alain Aupeix and CaptnBlack.
NoScript button toggles NoScript,
Right click context menu for NoScript contains:
Allow javascript for this page for session, Block only for this session, <br>
Add and remove from list of allowed pages.
Block Flash, Java or Plugins from NoScript.
Note : For NoScript functions, Javascript must always be enabled
in the Preferences panel.
Active X Support can be enabled from the browser menu, but by default
only for Windows Media Player. Tools-->Privacy-->Permissions.
Note: Not all media files will work, if they cannot find a requested player model.
Try then K-Meleon 1.0.1-ax, which has no conflicts with NoScript
and AdBlock to open such streams.
Other ClassIDs can be added in defaults/prefs/activex.js,
if this is desired, but increase possibly the security risk.
Flashblock can be disabled or enabled in
Tools-->Privacy-->Permissions-->Flashblock.

Regards to all.

Fred,

Am using it now and it works fine. One question for you. Do I need both the icons and the Privacy Bar icons?

Tks,

If you want that, you can make the big buttons disappear
in View-->Toolbars, and enable just the Privacy bar
for that purpose. You can then rearrange your toolbars,
pulling them whereever you want them.
The additional little button bar for the privacy bar
works of course only correctly together with the
matching privacy bar of the concerned skins Phoenity,
Phoenity(Large) or Klassic.
For other skins that you use, a corresponding little
button bar would probably mostly have to be designed anew.

Fred,

Until such time as someone updates Early Blue!!! I'll continue to use Klassic, so your suggestions about how to set it up in the Menu work well for me as I'll go with the little icons in the Privacy Bar and disable the big one in View/Toolbars. FYI, this version runs faster than 1.0.2.

Very nice!

Dear Fred

Each time it starts I get a window asking me to choose profile - when I delete
default profile it does not stick/persist - everytime I must create a new deafult user /profile ?

Thanks for any advice

Hi Fred,

I had the same problem as Frank. So went back to my
previous version.

Fred,

Yes, I saw that profile thing too. Didn't mention it before, but it does seem to invalidate the profile.ini option, which in the past kept KM info strictly inside the program's file folders.

It is advisable to keep your profile inside the
K-Meleon main folder if you have already an other
K-Meleon version, in order not to mix the
settings of the different versions, because this
version has a different structure.
To achieve this, there is a file profile.ini
inside the K-Meleon folder. It will create a
profile there.
As I mentioned in the notes to this version on top
of the page, there is a harmless error, that
causes to spring up an error message, when
you start the browser a second time and later,
pretending, that the profile can not be loaded.
Just click the error message away, and push
the button that comes up then a second time,
and your default profile, that has be created
at the first start, will come up again.
If the error message should annoy you,
go to Edit-->Manage Profiles and take away
the hook in the window that opens. The
next time, you will be asked to choose the
profile again, but the error message should
not return. Your profile from the first start
will anyhow not be altered. It is only an
annoying message.

Fred,

Thanks for the info. I had guessed that the problem was something like this, so didn't worry about it, aside from trying to see if I needed to edit the profile ini file on the off chance that I had done something wrong there.

Edit/Manage Profiles is a good enough kludge for me with this release.

Fred

Thanks for your solution - its deeply appreciated. I find this release is faster than K-Ninja 2.1.1 on my system.
