Uninstall of K-Meleon causes IE to not function

I had K-Meleon installed for a while, and then to update to a new version, I uninstalled the old version. Immediatly, IE would not function. This is bad, as K-Meleon doesn't display a page right that I need to access to configure network ports at work.

Any clue as to why this happened?

Same thing happened to me -- and I quite agree, this is bad! In case it matters, I did NOT check the "Always open HTML with K-Meleon" option when doing my custom install. (I did, however, check the Loader option, which I later disabled.)

Not that I'm a big IE fan, but there ARE times....

Before download and install K-Meleon, I'd like to know whether this bug is already fixed or not.

Thanks in advance.

This was a bug in the .4 installer, the latest releases should be safe.

But it was installing version .5 (after uninstalling version .4) that wiped out my IE!

What exactly was the version .4 bug that caused this? Is it possible to repair the damage (e.g., restoring deleted files, making Registry changes, etc.)?

IE-less,
EG

Does IE not run at all?

It seems to START to run but manages only to cause a few screen refreshes. If there's some error message, it's gone in the blink of an eye. Happen to know if there's some sort of /debug command-line switch or error log I could try? (Oh, and I was using IE 4.0, btw.)

Thanks,
eg
