this happened when entering a home page -> url=
http://www.angelfire.com/fl/tracehome/index.html
it happened twice in a row, I had to use an MSIE 5.5 sad smiley
to go there.

message read.

hi ken,

thanks for the info.

guess you must be right, it must have been the ad that put me out.
because k-meleon was not the only program running.
thunderbird mail was running at stanby, becouse I was waiting for an e-mail.
it is normally no problem on an athlon1000. I always do that.
MSIE 5.5 does less checking of security with scripts, I think.
so msie was less demanding for the cpu, I pressume.
But that is one of the reasons why I prefer my k-meleon
- more security & just as fast, or faster.

I use an older version k-meleon and the k-meleon0.8.2
the older was not passing out so often. so I was wondering.
(and daughter is only using the older, I made it to look like MSIE smiling smiley icons and almost all.)

it has either to do with my hardware or software setup or:

the fault can be reproduced.
I can anyway. with this setup and hardware.
if I jump directly to the place ->k-meleon0.8.2 will stay (normally) alive.
but if I go step by step k-meleon is killed.

way:
http://www.thebubblegumhouse.net/
http://www.thebubblegumhouse.net/Basement.html

3 criter top left go to trace
http://www.angelfire.com/fl/tracehome/index.html

at trace's k-meleon 0.8.2 passed out. on each of down below faults and stayed alive 2 times. k-meleon 0.7.1 did not pass out.

there are JavaScripts AND one applet, that ist surching for missing children.

<applet code="NCMECbanner.class"
codebase="http://banner.missingkids.com/java/"; TARGET="_top"
align="baseline" hspace="8" width="342" height="128">
</applet>

many scripts and an applet. it is perhaps a known fault, if - I am sorry.
it is possibly the way.

because I could not reproduce the fault on the downloaded page from hdd.

it could be possibly a known fault, it is not the cpu load. which ken and me first presumed.
a fault concerning java. and or java and java script combined. or my plugins?
because if I go to the place where it happened - following the same procedure - it almost always kills my k-meleon0.8.2 with only k-meleon running, too.

looked by chance into my jpi_cache & regognized a foto from the page where the first two faults were. I looked because I had a pass out of k-meleon just after my last post.

there was an applet and java script on that site too. I think.
gecko recently altered something with the working-together of javascript and applet.
if I remember correctly.

that was this fault at that other site.

dear efosb,

I am sorry for posting out of place. please ask the moderator to remove my post.
I did not know, or understand that buggs was not the proper place. i hope You are not too angry about me beeing so dumb.

i stoped using msie - when after a so called "update" i could not go to applet places anymore - doing that is my hobby.

with alternative browsers i looked into the forums, when i had a problem.
or posted as much information as i could find out on my machine so that someone could help me to solve faults on my pc.

- else i removed the browser. if no solution was found.

there are several msie-skins availabel where you get all the k-meleon skins.
i think they are still there. the rest is done with a resource editor. it takes some hours.

i am not going to do that with k-meleon 0.8.2 - it has been been removed from my system

because - nobody knew a solution, i did not find one on my own
-> that was it for this brew of k-meleon.

& i am very sorry for posting out of place - it will not happen again.

greetings guenter

guenter,

You didn't post out of place. efosb was saying that his post was out of place because it didn't answer your question but he wanted you to post a copy of your IE skin. If you want to post your bug here:

http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/bugs/

the developers can look into it further.

Dear Andrew, Dear efosb,

i am sorry.

but i cannot post that skin in public.
it is a resource hack like that the k-m on cd people did.
i used msies original icons. I think they are not my copyright.
besides that it is for an older version of k-meleon (0.7.1) & is based on one of the skins that were already posted. i doubt the *.exe will run with components of 0.8.2

my second instalation of k-m 0.8.2 runs better - but still less stable than k-m 0.7.1.

dear efosb,
for further info see:
<a href="http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?f=1&i=12534&t=12527">this thread</a>and
<a href="http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?f=1&i=12057&t=12042">this thread</a>
however, this does not change the problem - we have.
neither of us has the copyright to the icons and graphics involved.
we can IMHO only distribute these changes on a private basis to friends or family.

i was just picking, i wouldn't try to make a MSIE skin with copywrited icons. if i did i would probebly have microsoft coming down on me hard, lmao. "if" i did make a MSIE skin with copywrited icons, i would proebebly destroy it right after i finish. anywho, i hope you problem gets fixed. i know i wasnt any help with your problem here, sorry. :-)

dear efosb,

thanx for asking after k-m0.8.2 the 2nd, he is fine!
my second install is from the same files. it works fine: one blackout on a known-isue (so far // a leaky testsuite opens too many windows).
one reoccuring fault-warning-chime - I can live with that.

Question: have You tested k-m0.8.2 with a leaner Java (e.g. 1.3) yet.
i ask because my warning chime-message is pertaining to java.
if You find out anything ->e. g. how well the older javas work
->let me know-> where You post Your findings, thanx

icons & destroy - i am not so sure ->You would destroy
->the ms flag is exploding so nicely : )

No, You were right too, the fault messages read: it is windows kernel etc.
and You could not know - that my system was otherwise stable.
nobody could know that something had happened to the my k.m.exe during install/unpacking. & that reinstaling was the key to solve my problem.: (

Andrews councel: the bug team: (was right too)
they would have seen it from the fault-messages, i think.
but why ask the "hackers" before everything else has been tried to get k-m working without consuming their time.

IMHO we are here to help others and to get help. to filter, never to flame.
there are no stupid questions (except from known trolls).
many people tend panik when they run into trouble with a progi.
it usually prevents them from reading the posts (well enough).

Re-Instal: perhaps - it is a solution for other strange things with other people too.

we have to remember that a faulty instal can happen! (with our favourite progi too)
->You are in the forum more often than me; )

and You do not have to be or to say: sorry: ; ) -> I should say it to You
for I "forgot" to mention that i would not leave our k-m uninstaled ; )
stupid me: ) to reinstall: it one of my standart procedures, programs are machines, they break down sometimes. I just would not beleave that this had happened to my brand new k-m0.8.2. that is the problem if you like a progi too much. no common sence any more. with a faulty MSIEchen i would have done/tried this right away.
