1.5.4 after it's been running for several days will just shut down..turn-off without warning...bleep it's gone and I have to restart it.. Any idea's how to fix this ? I really like this browser but that shutting down without warning gets tiresome..

Chris

maybe you try this - I mean only several hours, not days - with Firefox. I bet you turn it off by yourself until then &. . . make a similar complain on ff board.

Strange... Do you mean, it shut down each time when it was running without a break for several days? Or do you mean that you first installed it a few days ago, and it shuts down?

Did you check the closing options in F2 > Browsing > Tabbed browsing?

I wonder if you have some mouse gesture or shortcut key, perhaps even from another program, that closes windows...?

By the way, do you see keyboard shortcuts in the menus?
If not, click F2 > GUI appearance > Display keyboard accelerators in menus.
Then look at File > Exit K-Meleon, if that command has a shortcut and which.
Mine is Ctrl+Alt+F4 (=AltGr F4), probably default, but not sure.
My guess is that perhaps you often click F4...?

Ah yes, and have you tried with a second profile, with default settings?
But to be truly default, you must also move all macros in the profile macros folder.
Or test with a second, pure portable installation, independant from the setup version you perhaps are using?

Perhaps a corrupted profile ?

Rename the profile folder to profile.old, and launch K-Meleon again. If it works, thats the problem, you'll then just to keep bookmarks, passwords (sfile) and put it in the new profile folder. Else, perhaps a Winshit problem.

What do you mean with "several days"? 2 days, a week, a month, 123 days?
What Windows version are you using?
What webpages are open and how many of it?

I have KM 1.5.4 running some weeks, and some time for a long of a month, without any shutdown (K-Meleon closed) problem. Finaly I had to restart the system but this is because I'm using Windows not because I'm using K-Meleon.

Could be a week or two
up to 20+ tabs open
Windows Vista

It just closes on it's own without warning.. One minute it's working and the next it's gone..closed without any warnings

What's your shortcut key to close the browser?

Are you checked if the k-meleon.exe process continued running in the task manager?

History buildup causes problems for me. I just delete or rename the history.dat file when it gets too big.

How many days to you allow in history? I think I keep only nine days in my history. I have had no shutdown problems.
