K-Meleon Web Browser Forum
Hi - My favourite weather site http://www.weatherzone.com.au/wa/gascoyne/paynes-find uses mouse roll-over tooltips indicated by dotted underlines and a question mark by the cursor.
However, on K-Meleon 1.5.4 these tooltips flash up very briefly, then disappear. This is annoying, as they contain needed supplementary info.
This behaviour happens on all pages and sites that use roll-over tooltips.
I'm using W2K SP4 rollup 1.
Is there a work-around? Or is this a bug?

They stay open for about 5 seconds for me.
Win98, KM 1.6beta
Haven't tried yet with KM154. Perhaps it's javascript related, some 'modern' timing command that needs the newer engine in KM1.6?
(@KM folks: I'd support a forum section "Troubleshooting", so that not tons of little questions wrongly land in "Bugs" :cool

& obviously siria could not reproduce the problem with You recipe.
I open two tabs at startup the second does sometimes show the described behavior.
But that is IMHO no not good enough to ask a dev to spend his spare time.
A bug becomes a bug when it can be reproduced/provoked */- always.
Can You post the recipe or rule when the problem occurs. Thx.

OK. After looking at the source code, discovered that the problem is the "title" attribute. It is most visible in CSS styled text ("acronym") given a dotted underline and "help" cursor, but the problem exists with all "title" attributes on the weather.com website.
I cannot reproduce the problem in other sites.
@siria - yes, tooltips should stay open about 5 seconds.
@guenter - this now looks to be a site-related problem. I've chased down a couple of dead ends, but with so many interactions possible it is very difficult for me to investigate properly. The site fails the W3C Unicorn validation, especially in the CSS.
It's odd that siria doesn't get it in W98, and guenter doesn't see it reliably in XP SP3 -- I have nothing special in my W2K. It is possible I have something set in KM, this is always a risk when you have highly adjustable software like KM or Opera.

The title attribute creates the tooltips. IMHO there nothing unusual with them.
I have created them the same way on my own webpage.
Something is on this weather page that creates this fast disappearing of the tooltips in some K-Meleon browser windows/tabs. For me also. My guess the refreshing Flash objects. Whether it is a K-Meleon bug?
You could possibly test the theory by placing one or more of the flash objects with a text with title-tooltips on the same frame. On my page the tooltips are not in the same frame as the active content (java applets).
The CSS errors are not a big issue, almost every page has some in the content frames or in the frames of advert and tracking providers (addthis, doubleclick...).
You can visualize/count them in K-Meleons error console. They are ignored.
siria is overly concerned about wrong forum. This is no big problem.
A moderator will move a post when one of them is convinced that something belongs definitely into another forum.

It's odd. Twice now I've opened KM forums as my first tab, then Weatherzone. If I do this, then Weatherzone's tooltips stay visible for about 5 seconds :s
I'll try some more.
Edit: Yup. Confirmed, 4 repeats: open Km forums, then Weatherzone, tooltips say open. Open Weatherzone w/o KM forums, tooltips shy.

Actually, "Open any website, then Weatherzone, tooltips stay open".
I'm inclined to think it's a site problem. Maybe. IE doesn't do it, Opera 9.51 (Presto, now not on this machine) didn't do it. I don't have any other browsers to test against yet.

It's strange that the problem happen in 1.5.4 and 1.6b2 but only if this is the first url loaded.

Interesting to see it happens in 1.6b2... Oddly, it doesn't happen in your URL W3Schools. Maybe something to do with the frames/iframes?

It's odd. Twice now I've opened KM forums as my first tab, then Weatherzone. If I do this, then Weatherzone's tooltips stay visible for about 5 seconds :s
I'll try some more.
Edit: Yup. Confirmed, 4 repeats: open Km forums, then Weatherzone, tooltips say open. Open Weatherzone w/o KM forums, tooltips shy.

Actually, "Open any website, then Weatherzone, tooltips stay open".
I'm inclined to think it's a site problem. Maybe. IE doesn't do it, Opera 9.51 (Presto, now not on this machine) didn't do it. I don't have any other browsers to test against yet.

It's strange that the problem happen in 1.5.4 and 1.6b2 but only if this is the first url loaded.
Looking the web page source:

Interesting to see it happens in 1.6b2... Oddly, it doesn't happen in your URL W3Schools. Maybe something to do with the frames/iframes?
