Hi Rodger -

When you click on "Suche", do you see the "Suchen" button?

Gordon.

It is already "fixed" since half a year, in the new version, KM1.6beta :cool:

That's one of those old gecko version probs again, because meanwhile some major websites have changed their coding and use some new layout commands, which need a newer browser version to understand it (to put it simple, as far as I understand ;-)

Have tried with various fake user agents, but no luck.
There's probably also a CSS workaround possible in KM154, perhaps disrupted or anyone finds one.

But if you just want to use your webmail, that's simple:
Click on the "Freemail" link in the top menu row, not the one in the row below!
The upper link works fine, another layout without any bugs smiling smiley

you can click on the freemail link at the top navigation menu, it will take you to another page where you can login normally

the fix for the frontpage (1.5.x):

@-moz-document url(http://web.de/),
url(http://www.web.de/)
{
ol[class="boxes"]{float:left!important}
li[id^="channelnewsBox"]{width:612px!important}
}

Hm,
I think I will test 1.6 beta 2.
Works this version good?
Is it safe?

@ Rodger

I have been using 1.6.0 beta2 as my default browser since it became available. I have had no problems.

That's a rather complicated question, because "it depends..." ;-) You may open an extra thread for this, or look around in the forum, guess there were already a few :cool:

Am too using 1.6beta2-mod as main browser, but I do have installed a few updates and bugfixes afterwards, which were posted in the forum here, and unfortunately I can't quite remember all. The download version still is the first beta2 version.

Basically for website display the gecko engine is responsible, and that's long since used in other browsers, so I just assume that browsing itself is rather safe.

The only thing that I consider as a bit 'dangerous' in the sense of destroying anything, is that the hotlist.dll deletes all nick names in opera.adr Hotlist. This can easily be fixed by exchanging the dll with the version from KM154, but I don't expect this to be done, since no one (except me) uses hotlist anyway tongue sticking out smiley Oh well, and both versions have an age old bug that for adding new folders one must not right-click on the top entry ("All bookmarks"), because that will delete the new folder and all contents too. But that's only hotlist, no one uses it, so no prob.

Another possible security thing is perhaps that passwords are not stored in a random named file, the signons bug that someone discovered awhile ago. That can be fixed by opening c:/programs/K-Meleon/greprefs/all.js with Notepad (Editor), and deleting the 3 "signon" lines in it. Now KM should create "randomname.s" files instead of "signons.txt" in the current profile folder. If you already stored any passwords in signons file, rename it to the new name.

Otherwise guess the known bugs concern mostly just minor GUI stuff, like window size maximized or not...
To learn more, read the KM1.6beta threads, and check the bug tracker for KM1.6 (link in green navigation bar here), and there's also some info in the wiki pages
http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/wiki/KMeleon16
http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/wiki/KMeleon17

Ah yes, and lots of people seem to need the spellchecker. Works fine meanwhile, the fix for beta2 can be found on http://kmext.sf.net
