Problem solved. Just download the latest flashblock version (currently 1.5.7.1) and overwrite flashblock.js and flashblock.xml inside the embed.jar.

Actually I meant flashblock.xml and flashblock.css. I don't have flashblock.js in the flashblock folder so I can't overwrite it ;-). The most important is that the extension works smiling smiley.

Code modified for K-Meleon has been marked accordingly.

panzer, you downloaded the correct file. Rename flashblock-1.5.7.1.xpi to a .zip. In chrome directory there is a flashblock.jar. Copy it to a location of your choice and rename to .zip. Now go to \content\flashblock and you see .css and .xml.
Rename embed.jar to .zip in the chrome directory in your K-Meleon folder and head to
\flashblock\content. Copy here this two files from flashblock.zip and after that rename embed.zip to .jar.

It works. Thanx. I just wanted to know: If I want to update Flashblock - do I have to only extract the file into kmeleon or do I have to extract specific files from .xpi (Like in No script where you have to extract only three files and delete compreg.dat, xpi.dat) ?

Albeit the fix works (thx) it wouldn't hurt to update the install package (e.g. to 1.5.2.1) soon since likely not all K-M users are also regulars of this forum.

I uploaded a patched embed.jar file with Flashblock 1.5.7.1:
Download embed.jar file updated to Flashblock work.

Unzip file in your K-Meleon folder and overwrite original embed.jar file.

Flashblock extension for K-Meleon only use this two files with code (and other 5 files with images):
content\flashblock\flashblock.css
content\flashblock\flashblock.xml

And really in this case only flashblock.xml needed be updated.

Tutorial feito usando o "K-Meleon 1.5.2 Full packages with installer" em inglês.

1º Passo:
Vá em http://flashblock.mozdev.org/ e baixe o Flashblock 1.5.7.1.
Você baixará o arquivo "flashblock-1.5.7.1.xpi".
Descompacte-o.

2º Passo:
Nesta encontraremos o arquivo "embed.jar".
Descompacte-o.

Descompacte-o.

4º Passo:
Navegue até a pasta descompactada do "flashblock.jar". Nela encontraremos três pastas: "content", "locale" e "skin".
Copie-as.

5º Passo:

6º Passo:
Volte para pasta "embed". Dentro dela terá 5 pastas: "console2", "embed", "flashblock", "kmprefs" e "mtypes". Compacte as 5

Informações retiradas do tópico: http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?3,87151

Surely, it is so troublesome to solve the problem of flash-not-good-work in the Version 1.52, especially for a non-english spoken user.

why not release a newer version updated?

Yeah,
Why not? That's how it worked in previous version. To much work to do trying to update multiple machines, for something that should've been done before it was even released.

I MAY even start using Kmeleon again, if you were to do that.

Then again, maybe not, as I have come across the IE addon wanna be, http://gosurfbrowser.com/?ln=en, that has blockers up the wazoo!!

I've noticed the developers of K-Meleon have gotten really sloppy. 1.1.6 was the last version without any fatal bugs. 1.5.2 has the fatal bug of flashblock broken but works with the embed.jar fix. The person who did the embed.jar fix was really good as the other instructions were confusing and they left out how compression needs to be 0% when adding it as you compress it and it'll probably malfuction.

Back to the "I've noticed the developers of K-Meleon have gotten really sloppy." part. Well, I've often recommended to everyone that K-Meleon is the best browser out there, but I haven't been able to with all the fatal bugs. I mean how do you not notice flashblock is broken in a release? And after so far 15 days after people on the forum fixed it, the new fix isn't still updated on the website.

Why do You not update the GRE of 1.1.6 if it is better?

fatal bug is when a program crashes or crashes the whole system when something is invoked. flashblock problem was not a bug, let alone 'fatal'.
flashblock was just an outdated jar that was quickly addressed, thanks to desga and others.

kmeleon is a community project in every sense of the word. as gunter have mentioned; to the devs it's not their bread-earning job.. dorian and kko do their very best to improve and update the browser whenever their time allows. the rest of the development is left to savvy users, especially when it comes to integrating external programs and extensions like flashblock etc. the community also test releases for bugs and report them because the devs don't have enough time to test everything and there's usually a beta edition before an important modification build.

perhap.rs kmeleon is not the best but it's users like you who can make it better.
i tried testing the pop-window bug you've reported but i didn't see the problem, i tried with kko's test page and activa website.. can you explain it more please.
also make sure to do a clean install of 1.5.2 because maybe some remnant files from earlier versions are still there and causing the bug.

to report bugs, i believe you need to create a forum account first, then login with that new account to the bugs wiki.
thank you for being part of the kmeleon project and i'm sure all the bugs you will report will be sincerely addressed by dorian smiling smiley

I'm disagree with Christopher Poole, this not happend as you said and I don't think that "the developers of K-Meleon have gotten really sloppy".

First, Flashblock is an extension included in K-Meleon release, but not is part of K-Meleon kernel. Flashblock is developed by its own developers, not by K-Meleon developers. We only include this extension/feature in K-Meleon releases.

Second, 1.5.2 final release have same Flashblock version (Flashblock 1.5.6) that previous 1.5.1 and 1.5.2 betas and RC's (1 and 2). And anybody noticed this problem with Flasblock in this previous versions. As you can read in Flashblock website this problem is produced by a Mozilla bug with new Gecko and changes in Youtube website:
Quote
Flashblock website:
2008-12-12: Flashblock 1.5.7.1 released to fix Bug 467659.
2008-11-15: Flashblock 1.3.10 UPDATED to fix YouTube breakage.
2008-11-11: Flashblock 1.5.7 released for Firefox 1.5 to Firefox 3.1.x (trunk), Netscape Navigator 9, Flock, and Intel Midbrowser.

In new 1.5.7 version you can read fixed this problems:
2008-11-11: Flashblock 1.5.7 and Flashblock 1.3.10 released.

* [fix] Bug 19435 Flash objects are not blocked on a XML/XSLT page.
* [fix] Mozilla Bug 463839 Flashblock broken on trunk (again).
* [new] Added pt-PT (Portuguese) locale.

Third, you should think if you really want to call this a fatal error rather than a minor problem introduced when updated to the last Gecko engine 1.8.1.x version.

Fourth, the problem was solved by my embed.jar fixed file with last Flashblock 1.5.7.1 version in two hours after that it was detected.
I don't know if you remember that Microsoft fixed one security bug (this is really a fatal bug) in IE some weeks ago when Microsoft knowed this bug from 4 years ago.

Well still I think they should update K-Meleon 1.5.2 to 1.5.2.1 or something just to update the Flashblock file. It shouldn't take that long.

1.1.6 is very good except for two things
1) Sometimes crashes and exits with javascript is too much for it. Might also have to do with that my computer is old
2) There's some javascript codes that are able to pass through the browser and install malware on people's computers. These usually come from bad advertiser networks. This stuff affects all Mozilla browsers and I'd think maybe a later Mozilla build would fix it, but maybe not.

Well aside from that 1.1.6 is the best browser out there.
