WELCOME PAGE from Help-menu does not appear?
In the portable KM74.0 a pref is missing if the language was never switched. Click F2>GUI and there on any language to reset it (also click on english if needed, even if its already set)

GMX Mail:
Get only the mobile version after Login? Maximize your window!
Login doesn't pop up? If you have a proxy, try if disabling it helps.
(In KM1.6 or older login doesn't work at all. After killing CSS there appear the input fields, but not tested)

BING background photos:
Want that great panoramic image in the background but the menu "background image" in View-menu is grayed out? Change the UserAgent to default, make sure in KM74 the Firefox-compatMode is disabled (in about:config) and it works again.

Background IMAGES:
More and more are not accessible with native functions.

USERAGENT
In KM74.0 there is currently no *default* UA-macro included anymore, but still 3-4 user macros available. Incl. 2 automatic switchers by site.
The old one from KM1.7 or earlier still works too, if you copy over the useragent.kmm into KM74 and have a list with your custom strings. If you defined some in an old profile, find its prefs.js and open it with an editor to find them. The best way is to put them in a js-file in folder K-Meleon/browser/defaults/preferences (pre-KM74: K-Meleon/defaults/pref)

USERAGENT FIREFOX
If you wonder why in KM74 the "default" UA shows a Firefox string along with K-Meleon ID, that's because of this new gecko pref:
general.useragent.compatMode.firefox
In KM74.0 it es enabled by default for new profiles.
That deletes KM from the statistics, but the hope was to get less probs with badly coded websites. Then again, contrary to old myths, in todays web you get sometimes even a better page delivered *without* any fake Firefox string, if you toggle that pref to false (right-click on it for menu).

USERAGENT: Wrong Gecko-Version GRE:
The default UA shows a WRONG gecko version, due to some mozilla bug.
The build in the platform.ini is better, but still not always updated.
The most reliable way is to open a file explorer, right-click on the dll-files in the KM root folder, and check their version.

WEBSITE ICONS (Favicons)
If many are missing, open about:config and check this pref:
browser.chrome.favicons

BOOKMARKS
If for new bookmarks only the Titles get stored, not the URL, or if all bookmarks are write protected in KM74.0:
Open your profile folder (Edit>Config.>Profile Directory) and check if there is any bookmarks.html at all? If no, add one manually. If yes, check if it may be accidentally write protected?
If it doesn't help, replace the bookmarks.dll in the k-plugins folder with the version from KM1.6. If you don't already have an old version on your disk to get it from, click the "Download" link in the green side bar of this website and download the portable 7z-version of KM1.6 and extract only the needed file from it. On some computers it may be necessary to also copy over the msv*80.dll files in the KM root folder.

If You use the old 1.x profile the described procedure is often not needed.

Note that this feature is broken in first preview of 74 with esr 31.
So You may always need a K-Meleon 74 with esr 24 for the conversion.
