Have you guys experience pauses right after the program starts in Win 7 and 8.1? The program pauses for like 2-3 seconds after the window appears. This doesn't happen in 32 or 64 XP


My K-meleon version:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:24.0) Gecko/20140105 Firefox/24.0 K-Meleon/74.0

Can't confirm neither with K-Meleon 74_24 nor with K-Meleon 74_31 on Win7.
It must be something on your side pausing K-Meleon.

Could be because of the sessions. You can try 75 beta 1 which fix this issue

75 has the same issue. This happens even after I closed K-meleon and restart it. The progra is running off an SSD by the way. I don't have any antivirus program running and I have turn off the windows defender. K-meleon window showed up really quick but unusable for a few seconds, even for a blank start page.

Another issue under 64bit Win7:

I have about 30 tabs open (but not all loaded after KM-restart). So after some limit of reloaded (activated) tabs KM freezes.

This isn't about RAM shortage: I have here 16Gb RAM and only 2,6Gb used by KM (too much though for our lizard, but this is system issue, I T think).

So the freeze is something about KM software glitches.

If you reload page with heavy js, it happens probably because of huge memory leaks. Maybe the way the reload is done increases the leaks, but it also happens with firefox.

32 bits processes are roughly limited to 2Gb

The default is 2. It can be set higher on some win32 systems. More info here:

I was looking at the Eventlog today and noticed the following error messages:

Activation context generation failed for "E:\internet\k-meleon\k-meleon.exe".Error in manifest or policy file "" on line . A component version required by the application conflicts with another component version already active. Conflicting components are:. I do not know the cause, but it appears each time I start certain versions of KM. I have KM74, KM7431, and KM75. I do not think any of the 'events' in my log refer to KM75. The ops sys on my laptop is Win 7 (64 bit).
