Greetings from Romania !

When i turn on computer and enter K-Meleon and i go to this site www.gds.ro, for a few seconds (max 10) K-Meleon becomes inactive (cpu goes high). Windows 7 32 bit. I remember some time ago was the same thing (i think some 1.7 build).

Both pages have something in common besides their shared problem.

http://www.netip.de/search?query=foxnews.com
http://www.netip.de/search?query=gds.ro

Show that both IP/page belong to a registrar or server (?) near Wichita US.

They resolve and load fast for me on a German Telecom DSL 12.000 from Hannover Germany.

But apparently not from Your respective ISPs in a big towns in Quebec and Romania.

No idea why.

@KMfan2
gds.ro loads fast here (Germany).

@guenter
Are you sure you made the look up correct for gds.ro?
104.28.11.100 seems to be a CloudFlare server. (TCP connection)

CloudFlare is a bitch. I've also encountered some problems with sites using CloudFlare.

As for foxnews.com the IP I get is 104.74.85.123/23.54.99.153 (Akamai servers)

(Traffic sniffed with Whireshark.)

No, it is about loading slow or faast. It's about that, when i open K-Meleon FOR THE FIRST TIME (e.g. in the morning when the PC was shut down) it does that. After that, even if i open the site with other K-Meleon profile (i have multiple portable K-Meleon folders) it doesn't do that.

For me http://www.foxnews.com/ is as fastest as can be (i think is top 3 sites that open fast)

So, your problem is that K-Meleon needs about 10 seconds to start after booting your OS. Is that correct?

Something is hindering it.
Is it only K-Meleon or other browsers too? (IE doesn't count since it is part of the OS and starts during booting)
Did you try to disable your AV for testing?
Did you try a fresh install of K-Meleon? I'd suggest to create a new folder wherever on partition C and extract the portable package there. Keep all the default settings and make only a test to see if the problem persists.

Otherwise I don't know what it could be.

Firefox ESR 31 and K-Meleon 75 are behaving the same here.
Note that I don't have Winamp installed on my system.
Since I don't have any association for .pls files I get offered in both browsers to download the file or open it in a dedicated app.
I did the latter and after a short time of buffering I'm listening now with SMPlayer to music & advertisements from 80.86.106.136. in K-Meleon 75. smiling smiley

Short answer - it works.

smiling smiley Of course it works when you play the stream in a player !!! But let's say you want to play it DIRECTLY in the browser ! What do you do? What do you do ? grinning smiley

I don't see how this kind of stream (KissFM/Internet Radio) can be handled only by a browser.
You need therefore a dedicated player or a dedicated plug-in for play back.
You say that you can listen to the stream with Firefox (I can't). Take a look at what plug-ins are activated in your Firefox. Also take a look at your task manager and see what other than Firefox is active during play back.

Exactly. That player button for example works with Chrome and other browsers based on its browser engine.

But that page's playing button does not work with other browsers using Mozilla engine. Example: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:41.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/41.0 a new nightly.

For Gecko based browsers I confirm the bug as engine bug.

External player works.

So what You do is: Use a Chromium based browser.:O

p.s. I tested some more with 75 and 74.

After using that player button noting happens 74/75.

So I looked for errors that prevent it.

With K-Meleon 75 I got a crash when I try to open the error console 2.

This reproduces always on my system. sad smiley XP PRO 32 SP3. 2 GB RAM. AMD CPU.

No matter whether the player is active /button pressed or no.

74 no crash.

When I use K-Meleon 74 error console I get the following reading.

fbexternal-a.akamaihd.net : server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555

Trying to find out what that service is.

https://www.google.de/search?client=kmeleon&num=100&prefdom=US&q=fbexternal-a.akamaihd.net&gws_rd=cr&ei=NReSVcC2DoH-Uqm0kOAK

And also I find that it comes from a content (and probably advertisement) delivery service.

https://www.google.de/search?q=akamai&gws_rd=cr,ssl&ei=YhuSVaX1OoHiUebBgZgI

p.s. I also tested some with Firefox nightly but did not find out what is wrong.

Using console et cetera.

Neither did I find out how to fix the pages problems with FF or K-Meleon.

Not all Chromiums do handle this.

TheWorld6 (based on 31 Chromium, but without extensions support) doesn't.

I've tested now on Win7 with Chromium and Iron.
None of them worked for me. I've tested without any plug-in, extension or dedicated player to see if the browser can handle it on its own.

I test with default install out of the box.
Here Chrome Version 43.0.2357.130 m. It works.

I tested with some other chromium based browsers with mixed results.
Which means some browsers with that engine can do.

https://www.kissfm.ro/ other chrome based installs that do: FlashPeak Slimjet Version 2.1.6.0 (basierend auf Chromium 38.0.2125.104), CoolNovo Version 2.0.9.20

One that does not: Commodo Dragon Version 42.2.2.138 (portable) which has advanced security and says web site not available. Just like with Geckos that also exclude the server that hosts the music for security reasons. IMHO.

I tested with some Gecko based browsers but no success. None so far!
Which does not mean no Gecko based browser can do!!!!!

The same deal as with km 75 no extra extensions - no nothing. Testing it.
K-Meleon 74 is default and naturally has extensions and gadjets.

Weird.
Did now a last test with FlashPeak Slimjet v.4.0.10.0. It doesn't work for me.

All my tests (K-Meleon 75, Firefox, Iron, Chromium, QupZilla, FlashPeak Slimjet) were done with portable versions.

Maybe it's not a problem only wwith KM. I installed the same version of Windows 7 on 3 computers, and one of them does not play www.kissfm.ro in Firefox (KM also). I've checked all the sound settings and no sound can be heard.

IMO its definitive neither a K-Meleon nor a Gecko bug.

This is not a bug - it's a feature:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=643311

FF doesn't support mp3 from html5.

I found that kissfm player has alternative mp3-stream link, which could be open and played in its own tab.

Can't help more. If someone could create some code to find such a link in page source code and open it - it would be great.

So the general solution is:

1) find the stream url (in digital format - like http://80.86.106.136:8090/)
2) add
;stream.nsv
at the end
3) open new url in new tab

FF doesn't support mp3 from html5.

I have to strongly disagree:
http://www.onelook.com/?w=music (click over speaker icons)

What the bug is telling is that the html5 player doesn't play streamed MP3. In other words, incomplete MP3 where can't be found the needed tags (duration, time, etc) to play it.

But FF and K-meleon support MP3.

Note: depending in your mimetypes the mp3 will play inside K-meleon, or would ask for open your player or directly opens your player.

MP3 is not supported in Firefox. HTML5 <audio> in Firefox will not play MP3. If you're able to play MP3 in HTML5 <audio> with Firefox, then you've got some third party plugin which is playing it for you. Firefox cannot natively play MP3s. You should file a bug with your third party plugin provider regarding the inability to play non-completed MP3/MPEG/NSV streams.

Test at your wish with the audio tag ;P

EDIT:
Anyway, your nsv link also works, so imagine where is the bug in the page...

What I still don't understand is why focus on the web play. For every station out there, if I can't play in my player, I don't waste a second of my life and here we have a pls/nsv

Hi Developer,

no matter what you select in

Preferences > File Handling > Save the file to the download folder

al well in about:config and type the path for kmeleon.download.saveDir

K-Meleon always save the files in the standard data directory in the directory Downloads sad smiley

Three topics below you have the answers. Why you told it here is a mistery.

Please, moderators, move these posts (mine deleted) to that thread.
