When I click "check for updates", nothing happens.....
Is that normal?
Or is it because I'm already using the latest version?
Thanks in advance.... smiling smiley

An-nyeong-ha-se-yo,

You mean that You activated the plugin that checks for updates?

I never do - so I do not know how it works now but I had it activated many versions ago and assume it still works the same way.

AFAIR it checks for updates every 14 days or so.

If You use 75.1 - it should IMHO not bug You until 76 is released.

IF You use an older version it should IMHO at the latest notify You after about two weeks.

Greetings from Germany

p.s. Your other question. K-Meleon is currently developed and updated by Dorian when he has time. For about 10 years now. But there were periods when he did not have time. 2010-2013. Nobody knows the future.

Yes it's the normal checker-plugin, which now has an own entry in the Help-Menu, created in menus.cfg:
"Check for updates"

That allows to start an update-check manually too, not having to wait until it runs automatically.
But since this is the same command that usually runs automatically and silent in background (no idea how often), it only shows a message if new updates are available.

Suggestion @Dorian: the plugin could still show a message in the statusbar if no updates are found, or it's really confusing after manual checks...

He's cheating  He's a moderator and sees the IP-addresses of posters, which gives away their provider company, which reveals the location tongue sticking out smiley grinning smiley

Take a look at this page to see your own location:

Or this page, it reveals 1000 ways how people can be tracked personally via fingerprinting, real scary:

I do not know anything about You. I merely see the IP Your ISP has given to You.

I was chosen to censor when the forum was flooded with SPAM. I am allowed to alter posts, delete posts and users, manually reset user pwd...

I do nothing else here. Some times I need to know an IP to do this job.

It also helps with answers (sometimes I can tell ppl in which language to answer if English is not sufficient) or polite greetings. smiling smiley

I use these two search engine strings:

http://www.utrace.de/?query=

http://www.netip.de/search?query=

They can also help to know the country of links in web pages.

p.s. I like Gemal's browser spy page. It shows us how we can be traced.

But I have no such rights and i would not want such rights.

How come there is only one??

SF currently lists 4 but...

Only one person with the needed skills is active. IMHO.

amutch, Andrew Mutch is inactive since 0.9. I still remember him.

boisso, Dorian/Dorian Boissonnade. Core developer since 1.0.

kkohler, Klaus Kohler is inactive since 1.5.4 early 1.6. I still miss him.

ron_aegis, Christophe Thibault, founder of the project, inactive since?

JamesD, naruman have AFAIR recently contributed macro kmm or js, some people do translations for the localised versions but there is only one active dev, Dorian, who can adapt and compile the GRE and improve the C++ code of the core.

well, this is correct about C++ coding. Only Dorian stays on duty.

There are other contributors for vital or perspective parts of KM like:

- Desga2, author of KM Preferences panel
- adodupan - master of JS and components
- and sure JamesD and siria - monsters of macrocoding with all the connected tools like cmd, bat, autoit, js etc.

But KM-community lacks too much for a number of former active comrades like disrupted, jsnj, Hao, kko, also naruman (it seems he has left us too)...

So we need new wave of contributors, new wave of general interest.
