If I open this website in IE, Firefox, and Chrome, it displays no icon but in K-Meleon 75.1 it is black

Windows version?

It is known that transparencies may have this glitch depending on Windows version. Not a K-meleon bug, in other words or yes, but wontfix.

My windows version is 7 x64 professional, all updates so far installed. This isn't a problem to me, I just found that it displays black and posted it to KM

Mmmm testing

Maybe I was wrong. I remember this was talked about and I believe it was the OS version.

Need more people to confirm.

I can't remember my own words confused smiley

Here is a thread about it and Dorian, the developer, fixing it.

I can't tell what version, but for the date, should have been fixed in 75.x, or at least with 76.0 RC2.

Usual sites without favicons do show default.ico from current skin instead.

This particular site does show black square though. No idea why.

It seems like the site tries to give fully transparent empty graphic file in place of favicon.

both of them have solid black stripe atop of page.

Maybe it treates top left corners of these stripes like favicon? Just guess...

Everyone (by everyone I mean different versions and OS versions), test here.

Do you see black corners or a transparent round icon?

favicon test

A couple of minutes ago I changed the icon to a newer one, tinier, but looks like geocities.ws is caching the old :/

Anyway, it works to report.

A new round of tests because one thing I noticed the first day is that the example page doesn't have an ico, but a GIF renamed to ico, so...:

ICO

GIF

PNG

PNG renamed to ICO

GIF renamed to ICO

No icon set

And one more thing I noticed and I said several times here. In all pages, above, the favicon is declared in the correct tag inside the HTML. The example webpage above, doesn't, so Gecko use the trick with the preference browser.chrome.favicons set to true to display it.

I haven't added this last example case.

!!! SORRY JohnHell !!!

I was too dumb for testing.
Generally I'm testing with default settings. This time I didn't and forgot that favicons are disabled in all my browsers.

After retesting, in both of your tests (all cases) the favicons show up. (Win7x64)

Once again, sorry for the inconvenience.

Don't worry, what I understood before is that you didn't see the black corners, only a rounded icon like what rodocop answered before.

Trying to be helpful just in case Dorian comes and read this winking smiley

If all you see it correctly rounded must be the last case I told above that may, or may not, cause the glitch :-?

Someone is caching something, because the flash icon isn't there, in the server, anymore.

Added the last case under:
http://geocities.ws/jothache/favicontest/chrome/

This will display the geocities.ws icon if you have the preference told above set to true.

That's how it looks in the chronological order of your second test:

That image is really small. smiling smiley
Whilst canvas size is 16x16, the image is basically 11x10.
------------------------
Last case confirmed: round, light blue globe icon.

Thanks both.

Something else must be going on with that user69 reported page, then. Its icon is 1x1 transparent pixel size GIF :-? Theoretically fine.

Please, anyone else, feel free to test smiling smiley

Yes, both pages have such a GIF 1x1, transparent. This seems to be a heredity of KMeleon k-plugins old problems with transparency.
Toolbars kplugin cannot show alpha as alpha.

Need to be improved in next iterations.
