Which browser and version do you use?
Which useragent string?

Google's recaptcha wants:
1) all Cookies allowed, from all sites
2) a faked useragent, containing for example a modern firefox string
3) since some days their scripts also want a html5-function called "messageChannel"
This function is contained since K-Meleon75, only disabled by default.
If you use KM75-KM76, open about:config and create this pref:
dom.messageChannel.enabled = true (Bool)

Or, as Hermes suggested with that link, update to KM-Goanna, the current newest KM-version.

IE 5.5... in Windows 2000...

Try a fake Win7?
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.0

And you forgot to mention which KM-version you're using??
This new "messageChannel" requirement only works in KM75 or newer.

On a side note, if you happen to run the PRO-version or another fork, or have installed yourself the multiswitcher addon, useragents can not be overidden globally, you have to disable that first.

PS: if someone is still using original Win2000, or Windows98SE (with KernelEx), the best chance today seems ancient Opera 12.02 or 12.xx. Tested this yesterday, was some hassle as usual, but it did succeed with reCaptcha. Also involved restarts of browser and network connection, to get another IP. The used UA was rather random, but just in case:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:40.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.0

No idea, perhaps it can be reset, but your last couple of postings look like you do prefer the "Anonymous" name. Otherwise you'd write your username into the author field.

Revision and version must match (for FF). Otherwise, you're clearly testifying against Yourself.

Trying to submit your browser as IE v.5 is not a good idea (today).

I use Windows 7 SP1

Also, there was no iE5 on Win7. Obvious discrepancy.

That wasn't the problem.

End of the game... again.

Even with messageChannel .

In Opera still works. What the heck they need now.

EDIT:

For what it looks in the error console, it is the base-uri Content-Security-Policy that wasn't implemented until Firefox 35:
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/CSP

So K-meleon 75.1 and below (Gecko releases), forget to use reCaptcha. If I recall correctly, K-meleon 76 used Gecko 38.

EDIT2:

No, no, no, in Opera 12.02 doesn't work either. It partially works. It loads, but not the challenge.

KM77, is working.

Using default global override:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:52.9) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.9 Goanna/3.4 K-Meleon/76.0

Also works:
Mozilla/5.0 (Android 8.1.0; Mobile; rv:61.0) Gecko/61.0 Firefox/61.0

K-meleon 76 and above, so, Goanna, that is quite newer than Gecko 38, obviously, can handle the recaptchas.

As I said above, from 75.1. and below, won't work smiling smiley

EDIT2:
No, no, no, in Opera 12.02 doesn't work either. It partially works. It loads, but not the challenge.

Last week I dabbled again around with it, just for curiosity. Because a few months back it was reported on MSFN that Opera worked again. And some weeks later it was reported that it had stopped again.
So just to see, tried it again when stumbling over a page that wanted it, and as expected, Opera pops up the reCaptcha but shows no images. BUT: it allows an audio challenge. AND: it offers an mp3 for download, ha! The sound rather noisy as expected, just to make things harder, as the grainy images too. And the soundfile was english, although the site is french, and the chosen site language as well as browser general language not english either. It was a male voice in normal speaking speed, for non-english ears rather hard. I thought what I heard (?) is complete nonsense, a few short english words (3-4) but without any sense and even grammarwise nonsense. But what do, just typed it in anyway, exactly what I thought to hear.
And - it got ACCEPTED! Even at first try!!

Tested on this site:
https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/de/demande-ext/cgu

=======

Another thought: is it still possible to login into a google account without all those requirements above, like messageChannel? Because this would probably suffice too, on all reCaptcha sites, since Google only wants to know who you are - in theory....

Oh god, why you talked about Opera?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, here at K-meleon website forum we may be user agents paranoids. You know what?, yeah, we are, do you know why? Because it works.

Opera/9.80 (U; [your own language here]) Presto/2.10.289 Version/12.02
(using 75.0 in my case, yours, maybe differs)

I didn't do this when I tried Opera, I didn't think about the user Agent...

Repeat all with me. I hate Google, I hate Google, I hate Google (please, don't do this in front of a mirror, you'll never know...)

Come'on... Even the TinEye.com works now... This is just... non-sense.

But I had to try like... 20 times? after Google thinks I'm not a bot

If I try the audio challenge, it directly says I'm in a network with bots Yeah, of course Google, whatever you say...

And no, login with the Google Account, doesn't save it. Once maybe. At least if we read reports out there in sites like reddit.

Just collecting more possible reasons/workarounds from reCaptcha horror jungle...

Seen in another forum, someone was blocked by an INVISIBLE reCaptcha:
https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r32327589-Help-MSFN-sign-up-page-FIXED

Quote

I have been trying to "sign-up" to this particular site..."msfn.org/board/register/..." now for the past few days on 2 different machines and I keep getting this message after entering all the requirements....."You did not not pass the security check, please try again"...NO bloody idea what the security check is...

----- (3 days later) ----

Going to check my Hosts file for that possibility...
(lol)..."fonts.googleapis.com" was the culprit blocking my attempts to sign up!!
