Many reasons:

- K-Meleon is based on Mozilla M18. The Mozilla team didn't start on working on improving memory management yet (should happen at M20-M21 i think).

- It's huger than IE because IE loads the browser code at boot time and so the browser code memory doesn't appear in the IEXPLORE.EXE footprint.

I'm using K-Meleon on Win2000 also, and it only takes up 1.5 megs... I was -extremely- impressed with the memory usage. Granted, when I start the progrma, my free memory goes down by about 7.25 megs, but compared to IE, netscape, or mozilla, that's still great...

When i start up K-Meleon and it loads http://kmeleon.org/ it takes up 11,592kb RAM. I am using Win98se and TaskInfo 2000 2.2 beta 3 ( http://www.iarsn.com/ ).

This does seem a bit high.
