Referencing window.sidebar in a javascript results in the following uncaught exception:
uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80040154 (NS_ERROR_FACTORY_NOT_REGISTERED) [nsIDOMWindowInternal.sidebar]" nsresult: "0x80040154 (NS_ERROR_FACTORY_NOT_REGISTERED)" location: "JS frame :: ________ :: <TOP_LEVEL> :: line: __" data: no]
Unfortunately, the user_agent string returned by K-Meleon does NOT provide anything which can be used to distinguish it from Netscape 6.x and/or Mozilla which DO support the window.sidebar property. If the user-agent appended the string "K-Meleon" in much the same way that Netscape appends the string "Netscape6/6.x" to the user_agent string the javascript could avoid the reference to window.sidebar.
