when i run the install an error dialogue telle me that MFC42.dll is missing or else but ive this library....

I can help you with this one, since it happened to me and I'm also running Windows 98, First Ed
K-Meleon requires a newer version of the MFC42.dll file than comes with win98. You need the Windows 99 or more recent version. Fortunately you can download it and other updated dll files from several different web sites. I found workable versions of MFC42 (and a few others that I needed for other programs at the following URL

The newer versions should solve the problem.
