Strange d/l problem (image)

For some reason (just started 3 days ago), everytime I download a file, the file transfer box has all wonky values...

This is on my machine at work (Win2000 sp2). K-Meleon at home on the same OS behaves normally.

Now, I know a re-install could possibly fix, but I am intrigued as to why it happened?

there's a thread around here somewhere about how a sufficiently high transfer rate can make the numbers all funny... sadly, i'm in no danger of witnessing this myself. smiling smiley

Hardly the displayed blazzzzzing speed can confuse anything in this case winking smiley
I rather suspect that from that particular server the browser has no way of telling the file size beforehand and hence has no way of calculating percentages.

No, it happens here at work now on any download...1Kb/100MB/whatever - and has done since it started doing it 4 days ago.

Nick,

I personnaly do agree with Sven. The only time I witnessed the same
behaviour as you was when I downloaded a file from a FTP site which
didn't "publish" the file size. Consequently, K-Meleon had no way of
knowing it and could not compute accurately the percentages.
My opinion is that your sysadmins at work (or your ISP at work)
made some modifications to your firewall or proxy which prevent the
browsers to know the file size during downloads.

On my side, it happened only once and never again. That's what makes
me think it's a problem related to unknown file sizes during downloading.

Best wishes,

Zeiram
