K-Meleon Web Browser Forum
With K-meleon set as my default browser, clicking on favorites' links from the Start Menu or going to an address from the Taskbar causes an error message to pop up reading "cannot find the file http://whatever the link address may be(or one of its components)". It does in fact go to the web address, but that error message or some variation of it always appears. Is this a bug or is it only on my PC?
My OS is Win98
I have occasionally seen this too. No idea if K-Meleon is the cause.

maybe it's trying to use File Protocol and HTTP at the same time?
one fails, one doesn't... you get the error and the page.
