The problem I seem to be having is that if I want to download a pdf file instead of viewing it. I use the right click Save Link as. when I do this a download window never pops up and when I go into the directory I find that out of a 3 meg file only 174 K has been brought to the directory.

Does it happen with any other file types? I have had enough problems with PDF that I'm not terribly fond of it.
I usually paste into a downloader in case the lizard crashes or my lousy connection dies (not much help if it's not resumable

Yes it does happen with other file types (I've had the same problem while
downloading the DLLs necessary for visited links and FTP browsing).
