Forms oddness

I've searched the archives and can't find any mention of this concern (though it's possible I missed it). KM has some very odd quirks when filling out some online forms (even this one).

First is that the cursor doesn't lead the typed character, it partly covers it. This isn't deadly, just a bit disconcerting.

When a word is inserted into already wrapped text, and is the last one before a wrap to the following line, that last word disappears until the form is scrolled or redisplayed.

Also, on some forms -- such as a Yahoo mail text entry form without javascript -- try using the mouse to highlight and delete several lines of text from the middle of the page. The text below is sometimes not scrolled up until you press a key. (Unfortunately I have not been able to determine under what conditions this happens.)

A similar problem occurs when text cut from the page is pasted in. Sometimes it doesn't show up until an ascii keystroke, such as a backspace or space, is performed.

Of course I'm seeing very few of these symptoms as I type in this form. As mentioned above it shows up for me when composing mail at

http://mail.yahoo.com

and also when composing entries at

Is this perhaps a Gecko problem, rather than a KM one? Has anyone else noted this strangeness?

Sorry if this is too vague -- I'll keep trying to document the behavior more thoroughly.

the text field antics are pretty well known, i think... there are a few threads on these forums related to the subject, but not much word from the devs... i suspect it's a gecko issue, but i'm not positive. hopefully things will improve, in any case. smiling smiley
