When I save a text file (not HTML), K-Meleon adds some HTML tags before and after the text. And the text has some problem with the carriage-return/linefeed when opened using Notepad.

this part, i think, is unlikely to change, but i could be wrong. most things web-related tend to have *nix-type end-of-line characters, it seems like. fortunately, almost any halfway decent freeware notepad replacement can handle these just fine...
