Java Plug-in

I have been using k-meleon for about 7 months now. the only complaint that I have is during that time I have never been able to use the java plugin, which has forced me to keep using IE in certain situations.
No matter what version of k-meleon i use when i enabel java and go to a site with an applet(EX. sun.java.com). k-meleon always fails with:

The instruction at "0x6d2ddc55" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".

and I loose every browser window.
when I type about:plugins I get these java plugin files:

File name: E:\JBuilder4\jdk1.3\jre\bin\npjava32.dll
Java Plug-in 1.3 for Netscape Navigator with JDK/JRE 1.3

File name: E:\JBuilder4\jdk1.3\jre\bin\npjava12.dll
Java Plug-in 1.3 for Netscape Navigator with JDK/JRE 1.3 (DLL Helper)

File name: E:\JBuilder4\jdk1.3\jre\bin\npjava11.dll
Java Plug-in 1.3 for Netscape Navigator with JDK/JRE 1.3 (DLL Helper)

File name: E:\Program Files\K-Meleon\plugins\NPOJI600.dll
Java Plug-in 1.4.0 for Netscape Navigator (DLL Helper)

The last one I just downloaded and inserted in hopes of killing the problem to no avail.
Thanks,
Rick

Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition Version 1.3.0_01 works with
K-M. I had some java problems too, I'm not sure why. I recently did a fresh install of Windows (98), got rid of IE smiling smiley, then installed java. No problem yet. Not going to try
to advise about Win2000. smiling smiley

It looks as you might not have installed the complete JRE, at least is not everything from the same version. Go to the K-M Resources page and get from there a copy of the Java Run Time Environment 1.3 by Sun Microsystems Inc. and install that one. Right now, I have JRE 1.4.0 installed and it seems to work fine (no difference to JRE 1.3.1 so far).
