Problems with Junk Buster proxy

Hi,

KM is unusable with my ad filtering proxy, junkbuster. In particular, when i type a url into the url bar, I don't go to the right site. Instead other strange things happen - like getting a 404, going to the mozilla site, etc. When hovering over the links, the URL seems wrong. For example, I might be looking at the mozilla site, and the status bar will show a google address (as will the url bar).

I get partial results from hitting reload multiple times. Even here, its kind of interesting but sometimes I will bounce between two sites when hitting reload!

These problems go away when I bypass the proxy.

If you want, you can cc replies to me at java.josh@verizon.com - ( just replace com with "net" to make the address work.) Thanks.

This seemed to be the problem with K-M and AnalogX Proxy (for LAN) as well. I haven't had such problems with K-M working with SpoonProxy and OutPost Firewall (the latter can also be used for junkbusting) - which are what I use now.

Today, when I installed Mozilla RC 1, the problem started all over again until I made http a pass-through port on my server proxy (SpoonProxy).

So all I can say is that such things tend to happen with proxies and are probably not a K-Meleon problem (IMHO it's rather something with Mozilla/proxy communication). It may have to do with caching or DNS and probably not the HTTP 1.0 / 1.1 compatibility of the proxy itself as some people have suggested (IE and Opera working correctly with any proxy settings). Instead, it may have to do with the method used by proxies for handling HTTP directly and Mozilla's compatibility with such method, as the problem disappeared when I redirected the proxy's http port to my ISP's proxy server (but again, K-Meleon did not have problems with my present proxy even when HTTP was set to direct).

I think the best way to solve it is with workarounds as nobody actually seems to know what exactly is causing the problem (anybody please correct me if I'm wrong).

The problem is that JunkBuster doesn't work with HTTP 1.1.
