If I uncheck show `Status bar ' it keeps coming back.

well, are you absolutely sure, that you only had one layer/window open before deactivating this setting and then closing and restarting K-M?

If so, then I could just think of a temporary fix to use the new macro features "OnInit" or something like this and always do an id(ID_SHOW_STATUSBAR) - i am not sure about the correct identifier though.

I think the problem is that there isn't a preference for this feature, as far as I know. So, the change in the setting isn't retained from session to session. I'll double-check on that and file an RFE if there is not a pref.

Put the following into your macros.cfg file and all new windows will open without the status bar.

OnOpenWindow {
id(ID_VIEW_STATUS_BAR);
}
