Overall SM 1.0b7 is working very well and fast for me (on Win 2000 + SP4). However, these are some small problems I have found so far:

1. Tools/Privacy/Block Referrer doesn't show a tick no matter how it is toggled; but the toggle state is correctly reported on the status bar.

2. Tools/Web Search/Dictionaries works but produces the error message:
Invalid macro reference. The macro 'SearchSync' does not exist.

3. The 'Go' button is not working.

4. Downloads work but the only message I ever get in the dialogue box is:
Status: Contacting...
It does not say Done or dispay the usual progress messages.

5. Would it not be logical to be able to specify the name of the Netscape bookmarks file in Advanced Preferences? (Rather than having to use Preferences/Plugins/Configure, which is not so obvious.)

The same thing happens after selecting some text - right click - selected text - google (but it works never the less, too).

Just search SearchSync in the macros file and replace it by EngineSync

4) What ? Where? When ? How? Who ? Er.. I would need more infos, I've never saw that.

I suspected 5) might not be possible.

Regarding 4), here's what I see at the end of a trivial download:

Download has worked, but message obviously wrong.

Ok, there is something weird going on when file are smalls or retrieved from cache.

This is probably due to fix for #752. Since that fix, download works in the background when you're choosing file location, and it may be finished before you have validated your choice.

In that case, mozilla say to kmeleon, "download is finished" and just after "download is starting" ....

Fair enough Dorian, as long as the download works I am happy!
I think you are right about it only happening with small downloads.

You'll have to find a way to reproduce it, else I can't do much. The cause is probably macros.

Great browser. Four things:

1) Bookmarks: Under Bookmarks - Edit, I can set a folder as the destination for new bookmarks, but whenever I add a bookmark I still get the 'Add Bookmark' dialogue. It would be good to have these as options - either 'always use this folder' or 'ask me each time'.

2) Clear URL bar history doesn't work.

3) Autoscroll: the cursor flickers between the autoscroll arrow and the regular cursor.

4) Findbar: nice addition; any way of making it stay in place as I move between layers?

I have another little problem with downloads: if a transfer times out, b7 will say that it is complete.

I get:
"Invalid macro reference. The macro 'setsearch' does not exist"
on right click -> selected text -> any search engine.
And K doesn't perform a search, neither open a tab.

(when modifying macro.cfg file, do we have to manually change also the macro file in windows/application data [win98] ?)


Little annoying prob:
I want 'Scroogle scraper' as my default search engine. It's ok for when using the enter key, but the search button always come back to google.

forgot to say that a right-click on the search button, to choose & go to one search engine, produce nothing more but the same error message.

You have to edit the macros.cfg file in your profile
Edit->Configuration->Macros

@Dorian: 'Clear URL Bar History' is fine if I run it from Tools - Privacy, but doesn't work under Privacy - Settings, if I set it to clear on shutdown.
