v. 1.5.4.0 - portable - on xpsp3 on 'atom' board asked for MSVCR71.dll
i copied the .dll into the k-meleon folder - to no avail.
i did not have this issue on xpsp2 on an older board !

You need 2 files. The other is:
MSVCP71.dll

Those files are usually already installed by default in XP, from what I read, but seems that uninstalling certain programs can accidentally delete those too, or such.
To get those dll's, you could extract them from KM's setup file. Or do a search in your programs folder, most likely they are also contained in other programs, then copy them over to KM folder.

Hope that helps, if not you'll probably have to install the vcredist from Microsoft. Just curious, please tell if simply copying over that file helps already...?

I have reported a bug concerning a crash of 1.7.0a2

When launching from a shortcut where 'start from' isn't initialized, K-Meleon crashes.

It seems that XPCOM can't be initialized.

Error message:

Under Windows:
--------------
Could not initialize XPCOM. Perhaps the GRE is not installed or could not be found ?

Under Linux:
------------
err:ntdll:NtQueryInformationToken Unhandled Token Information class 15!

This could be due to xpcom_core.dll file not created for Firefox 3.6.x and Seamonkey 2.1.x. Is possible that k-meleon.exe needed some fix to avoid call this file or copy it from other Gecko 1.9.2.x builded to K-Meleon by guenter:
http://dhost.info/kmeleonskins/1.9.2.16modular.7z

I think xull.dll is calling xpcom_core.dll.

Also I detected a crash problem in KM 1.6beta2 when you try download some file that have a link to open new window.
For example, trying download something from deviantart:

No this one is created with VC9 & You can AFAIK not miix them.

It is mainly done for K-Meleon.exe build with VC 9 also and as a test whether modular GRE can be build again.

You can try whether the whole GRE can be used with Dorian's VC8 build K-Meleon.exe and kplugins.

I have uploaded a xpcom_core.dll file that comes from a VC8 build that did not finish like the VC9 build.
The build used Dorians patches so it can be a replacement for VC build GRE.

Renamed VC 9 Build http://dhost.info/kmeleonskins/1.9.2.16modularVC9.7z

Build and uploaded http://dhost.info/kmeleonskins/1.9.2.16modularVC8.7z

The first package contains a runable modular Firefox build with VC9. It was done to test whether modular building is possible now and whether the resulting application will run.

The second package contains only files custom build for K-Meleon 1.7.
It is build with VC8 like Dorian used for 1.7a.

To do: Select the components files needed for K-Meleon. I included all that have build because users may need additional files. I have no experience what components are needed with modular GRE 1.9.2.

Typeaheadfind did not build. What else?

Didn't find this bug in forum and bugs.

Drag & Drop from tab bar to tab bar
using 1.54 source and to 1.6++ target.

It doesn't work and kills the target on second try.

The code was already marked:
// THIS CODE SUCKS ********
but was not fixed.

A simple test for ParentFrame access has solved this.

I've noticed this bug in 1.7.0
When two or more windows are open, a right click on one of the windows can cause all windows to freeze, necessitating a task manager shut down of KM.

It could be that a right click while a page is still loading that causes the freeze.

Hmm ... I have downloaded, did run crashrpt.exe and activated it in plug-in list – but nothing happens when the crash reappears. Still the same immediate crash of the entire program after having set file handling for PDF-files to "save to disk" when clicking on any PDF link ...

"Save to disk" is the default action in Km-75RC2u1. No need to set anything for that.
Did you try a clean install of Km-75RC2?

Furthermore if you encounter problems you should also name your OS and the browser version you are using.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:24.0) Gecko/20140105 Firefox/24.0 K-Meleon/74.0

runnig under WinXP ...

Btw: default was something like "open by plugin" or else (don't remember); and with portable version the file-type-list is empty ...

KM-75RC2u1 is downloading PDF files by default for me. I don't have any plugin for PDF files since I want them to get downloaded.
KM-74 prompts to open or save the PDF file. It's only a matter of one click to download.
What happens if you disable your PDF plugin in KM? Do you still have "open" as default action?

Windows 7 64-bit, "K-Meleon 75.1 Pro Virgo", (as Administrator), 3 GB RAM
Been using K-meleon since 2003! You guys rock!
Noticed K-Meleon 75.1 freezes with 3 or several Amazon tabs open, upon right-click, sometimes not, either way it always requires task manager End Process. Fixed it by allowing "Cache to Disk" not just "Cache to Memory". Can you figure out what's going on, since I really don't want to ever cache to disk since 3 GB RAM (1.4 GB free) ought to be plenty.

Hmmm...

I don't have any glitches with 4 Amazon tabs (unlogged as I don't have an account there).

I don't know your pagefile config, but if 'cache dancing' helps you, try this:

- press Alt+F10 for about:config
- find pref 'browser.cache.memory.max_entry_size'
- change it's value to something like '51200'

If helps - try to double the value until freezes would appear again. Then make 1 step back (divide last value by 2) and use this config.

If no help - report here.

I haven't suffered a crash since using "51200" which I noticed that KM changed to "512000" upon restarting. I had no freezing or hanging, although the context menus were choppy and sluggish to appear. I then doubled the setting to 1024000 and shopped Amazon and eBay for nearly 3 hours, with 5-7 tabs opened and closed at any given time. I consider it solved, since it was pretty easy to duplicate on my machine. I wonder if there are any other Win7 64-bit machines out there that can duplicate this behavior? I cannot thank you enough for your time and assistance.
P.S. I was able to Alt-Tab out of the hanging menu situation without having to kill the k-meleon32 process using Task Manager -> End Process. I simply switched out and then back to KM where it was alive again.
Now I will try to run KM on my Porteus box with Wine.

Hello, K-Meleon 76 pro. Video content playback on HTML5 slows down hard, make a flash binding, when HTML5 is disabled. And dragging tabs and tabs on the panels would also need to be done. Thanks.
