Crash Report Thread

Download the Crash report plugin installer

This plugin will send a report automatically after a crash. If it fails to send it, it will ask to save the report on your hardisk and you can send it later with the crash report form.

Make a clear description of your operating system, any changes you may have done to your kmeleon installation, and whatever you did before the crash that could be useful. If you're just going to put "crash" in the description you can be sure I'm not going to look at it.

Your email may also help me if I need more infos.

Post in this thread when you have sent a report.

Dorian,

I notice this particular crash utility is an executable unlike the earlier DLL with the same name. I assume you put it in kplugins sub-folder? Do you have to initialize it?

Tks,

ndebord,
here it installed automatically into last installed k-meleon's folder.
exe = installer & contained CrashrptUninstall.exe and dbghelp.dll. that looks like normal dll that is no kplugin - different from old crash catcher plus crash.dll into kplugins?
Used installer but no crash so far & greetings

Guenter,

Got it. Thanks. I too has yet to suffer a crash. We need to find a URL somewhere that crashes this version of KM!

Got this information from the installer report:

Output folder: C:\Program Files\K-Meleon
Extract: dbghelp.dll...100%
Output folder c:\Program Files\K-Meleon\kplugins
Extract Crashrpt.dll...100%
Created uninstaller: C:\Program Files\K-Meleon\CrashrptUninstall.exe

Somebody said something about the mouse cursor dissapearing while loading a web page, but probably it was his own problem and not a K-Meleon related problem.

As he was a troll for sure (his post contained more harsh and bad manners in three lines than what you can find at MAME forums in a week, which is too much) I've deleted his post, so nothing will break this forums peace.

PS. Remember that old Kinks song, Shangri-La? :-)

Might happen when the gestures plugin is loaded. Happened here several times as well. It's close to impossible to repro, but it might happen when you perform a gesture or do a click and another app / dialog pops up in the very same moment. Then the mouse focus is removed from K-M, but the mouse is still locked when you return to K-M, yet the mouse pointer is invisible.

Even if there was some of them, I really don't want to know what kind of sick websites you're visiting.

Depending of the crash there could be some since there is a mini memory dump, but most likely no ...

FWIW, good luck trying to run K-Meleon 1.0.2 after running K-Meleon 1.1. Not
only does it refuse to run, but KM 1.1 refuses to close down gracefully, leaving something in the kernel as KM 1.0.2 then won't load and forces me to reboot my system. Even using the old CAD on the process fails to dislodge it from memory. Of course this is on my antiquated Win98se laptop, so perhaps something in KM 1.1 is
optimized for NT systems only.

@ CB:

I've tried your link and works fine on my spanish 1.1 version under WXP. Do I have to do something special for the link to crash or just openning it should crash?

km didn't crash for me, but somehow hung. Yesterday, when I opened the link for the first time, the large image on that page stopped loading. I wanted to give km some time to load the image and opened a group in a new window. But none of the pages loaded. I tried to open other pages. They didn't load either. I restarted km, revisited this thread and tried to open the linked page again. It worked fine. I tried to reproduce the problem (also in SeaMonkey), but I've had no success so far.

This problem - if you mean that - was reported before. See here (the second bug in section "Difficult to reproduce bugs").

Does this plugin still work for the current K-Meleon 1.1.2 and the K-Meleon Pro
1.1.2? How about K-Ninja? Is the same reporting form still used? Where to send it?
Thanks

Does this plugin still work for the current K-Meleon 1.1.2...
Yes. The plugin offered in this thread is always for the current versions which is 1.1.x at this time.

...and the K-Meleon Pro 1.1.2?
Probably yes. Try it out.

How about K-Ninja?
Probably no. Try it out.

Is the same reporting form still used?
Yes. But this form is only for crash reports about official versions. K-Meleon Pro and K-Ninja are UNOFFICIAL K-Meleon Distributions. We do not provide support for those!

Where to send it?
The form knows where to send it. That's why we have this form.

The crash report will be useless if used with k-ninja, or any other distributions not using the original exe.

BTW did that plugin stop working? Look like it can't send report automatically anymore.

Is it ok for you with standard K-Meleon 1.1.2 (not with Pocket) ?

I've tried with Standard 1.1.2 and Pocket 1.1.2 too, and and it's ok for me (tests under w98se).

Try to delete the profile folder and test again.

I have been trying k-Meleon for the last couple of days & I have noticed that sometimes when I start the program the menus & layers take up half the page then crashes, I was just wanting too know if anyone else has en-counted this problem as I find it quite annoying when running the software.

Same problem as CB with the big picture, no problem with the 'little picture'.
perhaps a memory problem ??

XP2 SP2, 1Go ram (work computer)
XP2 SP2, 256 Mo (other computer)

On the computers, I haven't the same message, but the same issue, it crashes

On the computer at work, with 1.1.3 or 1.5.a1 :

Box title: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error
Message: Runtime Error!
. Program: ...k-meleon.exe
. This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
. Please contact ...

On another computer, with 1.1.3:

I have the Windows report box which opens with this content:

K-Meleon has encountered a problem and need to be closed...

I suppose the difference beetween the two computers is due to a parameter which allow or not sending report to Microsoft, but I also think that the error is the same on the two computers.

Here is the beginning of the content of k-meleon.xml in the report.
