K-Meleon Web Browser Forum

k-meleon, French, ver. 1.1.5, works very fine under Kubuntu 7.10 and KDE 4.0 (remastered Kubuntu version 540 Mo, also a appreciatable quality of that system: small and smart with the plasmoides!)
as kde 4.0 has only one browser (konqueror) it is really an interesting couple of browser for all people adding Wine to her installation, very more interesting as for people having 4 or more browsers already included in the distribution! really good surprise: K-meleon is really fast in the most transactions under Wine.
but I did have diverse problems
a) the address line of K-meleon completely fresh reinstalled in the pseudo-partition "c:/" of Wine accepts entries but don't go to the internet address, does nothing!
perhaps a problem in dependance with following message that appairs sometimes when I do somewhat in Wine:
Impossible d'atteindre KLauncher via D-Bus, erreur lors de l'appel de start_service_by_desktop_path :
empty
for me, it is antique greek! I don't know what is with this message!
the error with the address line is bad because you need all addresses from Yahoo or Google or from your favorites / bookmarks or other links! it goes but it is not good for an real daily use of K-meleon!
b) the letters was terrible (bad) in the first time. but I did install a copy of the most important fonts of my real Windows partition in the "fonts directories" and add following fonts definitions line from win.ini into win.ini

c/ I did reinstall VLC for windows in Wine (it is also available, also added, in my Kubuntu but don't work in K-Meleon - different from Java: Java from Linux works in Wine!). when I start this page news from public French TV , after a few time the film starts! but all the screen inverses and become black excepted the film itself and it is after that difficult to shut down K-meleon and recover a normal screen.
I did explain it on the VLC's forum this problem.
I would appreciate help in above details!

Bravo pour les tentatives. Quand j'arriverai à faire fonctionner cette putain de carte Djinn Numéris Itoo, je passerai sous Linux probablement définitivement tant Windows me gonfle. Et je serais alors en mesure de faire ces tests

Je dois dire que depuis ces posts, j'ai migré en Ubuntu 8.04, sans aucun problème. L'install m'a d'ailleurs indiqué qu'il y avait un problème avec la carte ISDN, m'a demandé de supprimer /dev/ippp0 et /dev/isdn/pppd.ippp0 (si mes souvenirs sont exacts) et ensuite d'executer une commande don't je n'ai ni le nom, ni la syntaxe ici, mais la commande n'existe apparemment plus ou pas sur Ubuntu, et j'ai le sentiment que je me suis bloqué un peu plus.

Starting with K-Meleon 1.1.5, the address bar should work now,
and go to the address, although the address will often not change,
when you click on a link. But it will not work with an older
wine version. I have Wine 55, and it works.
You can try my Linux optimized variations K-Meleon-NX-18113 or
K-Meleon1.5a2-Linux-18112, where you have a special button
to open a special URL bar, and which has particular macros
to work in Linux, while not all macros work in Linux in the
original KM 1.1.5.
at b)
K-Meleon does not include Windows fonts. They have to be included in
wine, or in older versions have to be copied from a Window installation
if you own one.
at c)
Ii is difficult to make Windows plugins work correctly in
Windows browsers in Linux, with the exception of Flash.
I would copy the links into konsole or xterm using mplayer(nogui),
if you have the mms address, or sometimes a http address with
.asx (needs mostly mplayer -playlist) will be available.
For the journal televise this is a bit difficult, because
they split the journal into little bits, each having an own
mms.For that I would use a Linux native browser.
Pour les plus grands radios francais voici une playlist
pour xmms , exaile, amarok , or any other included mp3player :
Copy the following to a text file and call it franceradio.m3u
Open the file in amarok, or what you else have as playlist.
Ca a ete change en links par le site.

Thank you for your help.
I did actualize my Wine and install both 1.5 and 1.5a2-Linux-18112In the first time both did crash. After restart, both did not start at all any more! After next restart 1.1.5 works :-) and I am happy! I can enter the url's in 1.1.5. All is best now.
I suppose that 1.5 or 1.5a2-Linux-18112 did install in the shared files somewhat what 1.1.5 can also use? But what, I don't know...
I did begin an item in the Wiki both in English and French about K-meleon and Wine.
But I have (and other users) a problem: the internal link don't will operate :-((

Well, it should be clear that you have to edit your page, namely KMeleonAndWine, and not the page EditThisPage. :p (I've undone your changes)
In regard to Wiki translations, the French version of page KMeleonAndWine must be KMeleonAndWineFr and not KMeleonEtWine!
Mit K-Meleon-Wiki scheint jeder erst Probleme zu haben.
Ich geh nicht ran - dann habe ich keine.

Well, it should be clear that you have to edit your page, namely KMeleonAndWine, and not the page EditThisPage. :p (I've undone your changes)
