Hi,

I'm running K-Meleon 1.1.5 and each time I restart it all of the options and settings have reverted to default: my homepage changes back to the k-meleon startup page, I get prompted about leaving encrypted pages, etc, etc. It's becoming a kind of annoying, am I doing something wrong?

Are you having some error message when you close K-Meleon?
What Windows version are you using?
Have your user privileges to write in K-Meleon profile folder?

Your profile isn't saved correctly. Try with a "profile.ini" file in K-Meleon folder.

Look at the profile folder, you probably have a lot of files like prefs-1.js, prefs-2.js, ...

I already had have that.

I think that prefs.js is probably damaged. delete it and all the other prefs-x.js, except the last one. Rename this file to prefs.js and opens k-meleon.

It will probably be better.

If not, delete all the prefs*.js, and launch K-Meleon again.

Don't forget, if you use the launcher, to stop it too.

desga: the system is running Vista Home Basic. I think you are right, I dont have peoper permissions to the k-meleon directoey. I have the administrator password but use the guest account (borrowing a laptop for a few days). How would I set the permissions. Sorry I know this is not directly a k-meleon question, but I am totally new to multi-user windows configurations and I'm not confident using Vista yet either.

I think it will be better to delete or rename profile.ini to let the profile folder to locate under Windows user folder.

AFAIK You can not have Profile directory in K-Meleon's install directory with all NT based systems such as XP, Win2000... (while You do not have the rights to the k-meleon directory - which You do not have by default, it must be given to You by the admin. Or You must be admin while using that.). I do not know much of Vista first hand - but from what I have heard and read it works like the NT based systems.

is there a way for me to put the profile in a directory this (guest) use account has access to? 'my documents' for example? how would I tell k-meleon to us this new location for a profile file?

If you delete or rename profile.ini, When opening the first time, K-Meleon will create the profile under Windows User folder, not 'My documents' but (if I refer to XP) c:\Documents And Settings[win user name]\Application Data\K-Meleon\Profiles\...
