Saving Preferences

I upgraded to the newest version of K-Meleon. This caused a loss of all my preferences. New when I enter a preference, such as a new home page, K-Meleon does not save them. What do you have to do to save preferences?

What do you have to do to save preferences?

1.) From which version?

2.) K-Meleon has two default locations for Profiles ( traditional and NT/XP style).

The choice is triggered by un-selecting Multi User Profiles during setup.
Since You tell us that K-Meleon does not save preferences You will have Your
new profiles in ./program files/k-meleon/profiles... On Windows2000/XP ...
only a program started by an Administrator has by default writing rights at this location. It was a FAQ. So the default was changed when PPL started to use XP.

Your old Profiles folder is not found because it is at
English XP = C:\Documents and Settings\Your user name\Application Data\K-Meleon\Profiles\... (make a backup first - then proceed)

%adata%/k-Meleon... use link for other Windows %apdata% locations, substitute name K-Meleon for Mozilla. Or use search term "mozilla K-Meleon profiles location"

Now go to ./program files/k-meleon/ and delete profile.ini.
This makes that K-Meleon uses the Profile folder in %apdata%.
Or wherever You installed K-Meleon.

If that is not the case ask again.

4.) Nothing they are saved automatically if the user has writing privileges.

To grant these writing rights to a non default position You start as Aministrator, right click on the K-Meleon folder and You and give them to a user.

They may all still be there. Check to see if you have on disk two profiles. You can find the current profile by using EDIT - CONFIGURATION - PROFILE DIRECTORY. Then look at drive for another profile. One with a different funny number dot default as its name.

1.) Sorry I did not think of this comparatively "new" feature.

2.) I will try to remember the suggested search of "*.default".
Much less to write and sure to find the old and the new profile. smiling smiley
