K-Meleon is nice, I've found two strange things,
suppose you have selected to hide the tab bar via F2->Tabbed Browsing->Tab Bar,
later when deselecting "Hide tab bar when there is only one tab"...does not un-hide the one tab and the property stays set even after a restart.

I want to remove permanently the bookmarks:
go to View->Toolbars and deselect Bookmarks, the Bookmarks is deselected but the option is not stored, once you close and re-open K-Meleon you have the Bookmarks always there.

I cannot make your first item happen. One tab only closes the tab bar for me.

For bookmarks you can go to EDIT - PREFERENCES - NETSCAPE BOOKMARKS and remove the check mark at the top of the panel. When you next restart KM the bookmark plugin will not run and bookmarks will be gone.

Make sure You have writing privileges to the profiles.

I think that You have (like me) selected to have profiles in the program folder.
Go as administrator to ./Program Files/K-Meleon do Right-Click and change properties - to give You writing privileges.

If you are using the K-Meleon Loader (lizard icon on systray, near to the windows clock), remember that you must also restart the Loader to changes in configuration take effects.
