Encoding Switcher / Multi-Language Support

Bonjour!

What I wish for K-Meleon is [View] - [Encoding].
Is this planned for future implementations? I couldn't find out requests that match.

Sometimes I read Japanese which has 3 types of codeset(Shift-JIS, EUC-JP, ISO-2022). I need to handle it. Now, K-meleon 0.4 is almost unusable for Japanese. Charactors turns into something unreadable.

plus, Font Preference for each language is necessary for it.

also Japanese in Bookmarks menu turns into triangles. (Mozilla does treat Bookmarks in UTF-8.)

I think it's sure if K-meleon supports multi-language, much more people want to use it.

Especially for Japanese. OPERA hasn't support Japanese yet....

I second the Multi-Language support. I usually have to switch between reading Thai and English, which in computer terms means switching between Internet Explorer 6 and KMeleon 0.5.

Agreed. It would be much better if Korean users can use K-meleon too. Thanks for the nice application, and keep on good working!

Xaver.

Try this, it should add chinese, japanese, and korean support (but I have no way of testing this) If it works, I'll make it publicly available:

http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/files/beta/kmeleon05lang.exe

Hello,

I can confirm that your patch works for chinese sites.

I tried it on http://www.eastday.com and http://www.sohu.com/

Awesome job!

If the site does not have the meta tag with the content type the switcher don't work.
so jeff your going to have to make a manual way or do auto-select like IE

example japanese site w/o metatag content type

Try this again:

http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/files/beta/kmeleon05lang.exe [updated]

It should intelligently detect supported languages now. If this doesn't do it, it'll just have to wait for the next k-meleon release (since it will require some additional work, and I don't want to have multiple k-meleon binary files)

You could also ask the webmaster to add the content type meta tag, it's not that much work.
