TinyUrl Feature with K-Meleon?

TinyUrl macro/plugin needed! Shouldn't be to difficult to realize it. I found the feature to be quite useful in Opera where you can get it by just dragging a TinyUrl add-on button on Opera's toolbar.

neolem,

I think you can simply bookmark the "TinyURL!" link in their homepage (in the "Add TinyURL to your browser's toolbar" section), and then open the bookmark to use it.

It's not the same and not as convenient as with the add-on. When you just bookmark it, you have to click on the bookmark, then you get to the Tinyurl page, then you have to copy the link of the site you were on, paste it in the field and click the button on Tinyurl's page to produce the tinyurl.

With the add-on (in Opera) you just click on the button you added to the toolbar and the next moment there is the tinyurl created for the page you just were on.

Don't bookmark the TinyURL homepage, but rather the "TinyURL!" link in the "Add TinyURL to your browser's toolbar" section.

If done correctly, opening the bookmark from K-Meleon's homepage should bring you directly to the "TinyURL was created!" page http://tinyurl.com/create.php?url=http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/ .

I seem to be missing something. That's what I did originally: I rightclicked on that link that you mentioned and added it to the bookmarks. There is then a new bookmark created with the value: javascript:void(location.href='http://tinyurl.com/create.php?url='+location.href)

If clicked, this bookmark just brings up always the same TinyUrl for "about:blank".

Maybe you can post here the value of your TinyUrl bookmark that you are using successfully and then I could edit my wrong one.

(Sorry for taking so long to reply.)

Yes, that's the same bookmark URL as the one I have. I'm not sure why it doesn't work there.... Maybe a different version? I'm using 1.1 beta.

Make sure you've set your bookmarks to open in the current layer. Such bookmarklets cannot work when you open them in a new and thus empty "about:blank" layer.

I can't get this to work at all.

Can someone exlpain it a bit simpler? Would it be possible to add this to the search engine sites like the search button?
