Split window into panes

I know windows don't technically -have- to be maximized 24/7, but it would be nice if there were an option to automatically tile windows or something.
Or better still, have two panes, each with its own tab(s) that function more or less separately (under one set of toolbars - just the browsing area should be split).

Hi, Bear,

have you seen this thread?

(Just typed "split" in the forums' search, set to "last year")

Also remember you can use several instances of K-Meleon with the command line parameter -new.
An you can convert tabs in windows with the option "Detach Tab" in context menu of the tab bar button that you like detach.

Thanks for the handy replies

For some reason, when I open a bookmark, after right click ctrl tiling two windows (in the windows taskbar), it changes the size to fit most of my screen Dx

Juxtaposer is good though. I still prefer the firefox extension (since both panels become essentially separate entities, and it's faster than tiling them using Windows' thing) unfortunately. Almost enough to start using Firefox again.

I was hoping for something like...an interface where you could panel windows such that clicking a link in the (say) left pane would display it in the right pane.

So your left pane could be results for a search, that you view another pane/s.

Hi, Bear,
what is the rationale for you to want to be able to see the results page when viewing single results - thus diminishing their size on screen?

& another miniPoll for all:

I've always thought the way I do this is the usual way - it probably isn't?

My settings:

all links open in background tabs
(using a gesture)
opening next to the last tab
on tab close, focus the next tab.

So, on the search results page, I work my way top to bottom, gesture-opening the links that seem important, thus getting a bunch of backgrounded tabs.
I then start reading the leftmost of those.
When realizing a useless result, I close that tab (doubleClicking it), getting the next one focused.

I'd love to hear about your ways to view search results!

Cheers

Another thought just occurred to me.

such that clicking a link in the (say) left pane would display it in the right pane

If clicking doesn't work, how about drag&dropping a link from left to right in a split window?

i think you mean a sidebar.
sidebar is not implemented yet in kmeleon
