Bookmarks icon function

Left clicking the bookmarks icon goes to the add bookmark window. Right clicking brings up the bookmarks. Why? This should be reversed.

Perhaps a matter of taste, but yes, support this too, and guess it even was different in older KM versions and then got changed.
And it's especially bad for Favorites and Hotlist, which seem just dead when left-clicking them.
But in light of the menu bar now being off by default, it would really make a lot of sense to show the full menu now on left-click.

Thinking about it... have researched that a bit lately. IIRC in the past those button were calling the "Edit" function, which isn't much better either. But in the far past it was first impossible to show menus by left-clicking a button, and later came the rebarmenu plugin which allowed it, but it had some bug, and also people could switch it off accidentally, clueless what that's supposed to be (myself riddling too).

But now in KM75 those old probs are all solved, would be no prob at all now - right..? smiling smiley

That said, every user can change that himself of course. Find your toolbars.cfg, open it in some editor and find this line near the end:
bookmarks(Add)|&Bookmarks
Change it to:
&Bookmarks

This is mimic design for all those used to make this in FF or Chrome - just press 'star' to bookmark.

It's not KM legacy way, sure. But real Kameleonaire knows how to get things back!

Or simply reads siria's post grinning smiley

Not 'like Chrome has'!

This is Chrome who has bookmarks bar like KM or Firefox did for years!

Press F2

Go Toolbars, Bookmarks Bar, Enable Bookmarks Bar = Check mark. Should work.
If not post as bug for 75RC1.

p.s. Your question belongs to General - Preferably AFTER You had a look into the Preference Settings Yourself.

What's the difference between bookmarks bar and hotlist?

Bookmarks is an old Netscape format. Later, some browser vendors created their own formats. But they kept some support which made Bookmarks the exchange format between browsers.

The K-Meleon hotlist plugin can handle Opera hotlist (a Bookmark format) files natively.

For Hotlist (Opera's Bookmark format) the toolbar (the equivalent - called hotlist bar) does not work with many recent versions of the K-Meleon hotlist plugin.

The same can be said about the favorites plugin which handles the IE equivalent of Bookmarks. The toolbar option is offered in the K-Meleon Preferences but the bar does not usually work.

BTW. My comments are translated from German & greetings to Georgia/US. smiling smiley

p.s. I use all three bookmarking plugins. Each for a different purpose.:O
