I don't believe adding an email client to K-Meleon would be a good thing. BUT how about adding a user preference allowing the user to select a client other than the system default. That would be very useful for those of us who share computers.

That might be a good idea. I use Outlook Express, but I also use Popcorn minimized to the task tray to monitor incoming messages. Some users might want to be able to associate or switch clients such as news or e-mail quickly and easily.

The Popcorn e-mail and K-M complement each other well I think. Maybe some collaboration could take place between K-M and Popcorn developer(s), but not necessarily for the purpose of integrating the two as Popcorn is not open source.

Above all, I think, most would want the K-M developers to maintain their conservative approach to refining the browser as it moves toward 1.0 status.

Well, you can always use a macro, like I've done with Pegasus, my client of choice:

in macros.cfg:

pegasus {
#open Pegasus Mail
exec(C:\Program Files\Pegasus\winpm-32)
menu = Pegasus
}

and in menus.cfg:
&Go {
&Back\tAlt <- = ID_NAV_BACK
&Forward\tAlt -> = ID_NAV_FORWARD
macros(pegasus)

It's not the perfect solution, but it works for me
