In my opinion, 'Close Layer' sounds better than 'Delete Layer'.

I would like:
By double clicking on the LayersBar, open a new layer.
And by middle clicking on a Layer, delete the layer.

i would like to see an X on the far right of the layers toolbar to close the currently open layer, and a new layer button somewhere.

seems more consistant than middle clicking etc.

AFAIK there is no way Ulf can host new/close buttons without ugly hacks on layer bar using current widget set. I might be wrong though.

For me even quicker way is to map new/close actions into right-click context menu: http://aab.spin.ee/img.misc/kmeleon/km-layers-are-nice.png

Middle-click close should work, according to Ulf. If not in 0.7 release then grab latest layers.dll from his site at http://kmeleon.freewebsites.com/. Haven't tested yet, can't say for sure.

Close button:
Try using macros (may or may not work...).

Delete vs. Close:
In the last few lines of menus.cfg:

I mean, use macros and make a toolbar button for it. Now I'm quite sure that it can be done (don't ask me how, I've never installed the toolbar plugin :-).
