cleaner address bar

Geat job on K-meleon 1.0. There's always room for improvement

When I do a search and use the address bar, my searches are in there too. When I look at my adress bar it's populated with url that I want to go and at the same time search results as well. For example, http://www.google.com/search?q=k-meleon, http://www.aol.com/search?q=computer+code, etc. I don't want to see these, just url that I typed.

Suggestion:
1. Place another field for searches similar to Firefox
--OR---
2. Insert/add a few lines of code in K-meleon that doesn't store web searches in the address bar. If you see ".com/search", it's a search. Don't save or store in address bar. Makes it neat and clean. Besides, visited sites are in the history anyway.

You can press Ctrl+g to bring up a search dialog. Or you can use the (unofficial) searchbar plugin (your suggestion number 1); see [wiki]KPlugins[/wiki]. There are no history lists for those, though.

Another thing you can try: Open Edit > Configuration > Browser Configuration. Type "mru" into the filter bar and look for the pref "kmeleon.MRU.behavior". Set its value to 1 (2 is the default).

kmeleon.MRU.behavior =

0 - Save all visited URLs
1 - Save only domain names
2 - Save only typed URLs (including typed search queries)

kmeleon.MRU.maxURLs = 0 will disable mru.

The address bar is cluttered with sites I visit but not necessarily typed (MRU.behavior = 1). Just because I visit certain urls doesn't mean I want them in my address bar. If I pick MRU.behavior = 2, search queries also show which is really annoying and more clutter. If I pick MRU.behavior = 0, that's even worse, everything shows. Maybe the developers can address this in the next release of K-Meleon

I guess I'll just clean out the address bar and type web address again or find a way to delete them (ones I don't want showing in the address bar) selectively.

Will be fixed in the next version.

That is IMHO a Google - not a K-Meleon related bug?

This is K-Meleon browser Forum.
